The best way that helps me think about the 1+2 > ff3 pickup is to realize that 1+2 recovers much faster than it looks like it does. So getting used to the recovery and when you're able to move is the key thing that will help make the pickup more consistent.

Works with DB/UB1+2 as well! My jaw dropped when I learned I could do that.

Especially if you still have heat, getting that CH DB3(or a DB4)into the B4,1 gives you are very good reward with the full stick of butter heat activation and the mix up. DB3 is also very safe, because it's +2 on hit and on block. You inspired me to try that setup in "mid screen" in a match.
