Tiffany I have a Sizzix big shot and a switch. I waited to have a 40% off Michaels and bought via their online store, they magnetic base for/by sizzix. I don't ever use the regular base for anything now. I do embossing folders, dies, etc on the magnetic mat. EDITED TO ADD: the magnetic base looks just like the regular base except it is strong magnetics. I have been using it for 2 years now and still going strong.

Such a beautiful combination of pinks and purples in your backgrounds that made a lovely card when you carefully cut them apart and lined them up diagonally across the card front panel! Pretty card!

Do you have a tip for how to clean the nail buffer? Great technique with some really pretty results.

You're so patient with the process Tiffany! The layers on layers, I think I give up too soon. I'm always stunned by how your backgrounds come out, but realise it's because you take your time to get the look you want and trust the process! Very inspiring, I'm learning loads! xoxo

Paying attention to your child’s mood and then finding out what’s going on is the mark of a good parent - and looking in their phone is usually the fastest way to find out! My daughter’s phone was always put on charger in family room at night and I checked it periodically. She graduated high school in 2014, so there was not nearly the social media that there is now. There’s a song, Suds in the Bucket, with lyrics about your child leaving home, to the effect of, how can 18 years just get up and walk away. Great song. I had only the one, and it certainly was a huge adjustment but it’s exciting too for both parents and children. I agree with you that it’s better to let them experience and explore “grown up” activities/responsibilities while they are still at home rather than restricting everything so they go hog wild as soon as they are out of the house. That’s dangerous, in my opinion. So many of the mistakes they make at this age have lifelong consequences - drugs, alcohol, babies. (Please be sure to tell/remind him, if she says she’s on birth control, she’s lying … !) On a different note, I’m getting the most consistent results from the COPIC opaque white ink for splatter, using as little water as possible. I had good results with the spellbinder’s new white one, too. The Dr. PH Martin bleed proof didn’t work for me, nor did the Hero Arts new one. I have tried so MANY trying to find one that stays white! Acrylic, gouache, sprays, tubes, inks, anything I could find, and that COPIC works most consistently for me. I’m planning on attending your class today, so I hope to see u then! Edited to add: and am still trying to find a white ink pad that actually retains its whiteness after drying, too, with no luck on that front either!

Great tip. However for me, when sorting/finding backgrounds, the medium/substrate used does not matter as much as the predominant color of the background. Therefore I sort all my backgrounds by color family (RYOGBIV + Beige/Tan/Brown + Black/Grey/White). I have one folder for each color family plus an extra folder called “To Be Sorted (TBS)”. I use the TBS folder while I am creating a bunch of backgrounds so they are collected together/organized while I am working. I then go back later and sort/move them to the correct color family folder.
