Georgia Tech beats ranked teams as an unranked team because they're never ranked! When are they gonna be good enough to stop having average seasons?

We are in year three of a rebuild 9 and 1... still have a chance at the acc championship. Who is still has not lost a game. Always over reaction when it comes to Miami. Really enjoy you guys show.

In this new 12 team College football playoff era, Clemson needs to stop scheduling a powerhouse SEC school the first game of the year. We would be in much better shape ranking wise if we had scheduled an easy win game the first game of the year and the remainder of the schedule was like Miamis, Boise, SMU we would have one less to Louisville and be ranked around 8-10 right now.

Honestly, Georgia Tech can beat Georgia if they go all out for that game. Georgia is beatable but you gotta play them harder than you did Miami. You have to find a way to score on their defense and hold up physically.

GT is a 1 trick pony. They beat a few ranked teams and otherwise they are .500 or barely better, since Paul Johnson days.

Watch Matt Luke eliminate APR. He's the best position coach we have on the offense and the best offensive line coach in the country. Granted it's his first year at Clemson and his unit isn't fully setup the way he wants but he knows the challenge ahead.

Please watch the game in halfs. First half Miami’s defense plays 2-3 deep with players that I don’t know half of the time. They give up points because Miami is playing 3rd string players against the starters on the other teams. In the second half Miami makes adjustments and plays more first & second string and wear down both the defense and offense of the other teams. Listen to this phrase all game “True freshman making a big play “. They don’t just play 1 or 2 2nd & 3rd string players they play groups of them early in the first quarter. Jimmy Johnson played everyone also & it seemed to work for him.

Clemson no longer knows how to "fight, claw, & scratch." They've lost the true winner's edge. Call it culture, call it commitment, call it NIL, call it whatever. But they were embarrassing when it came time to stand up and fight against Louisville. Absolutely Embarrassing.

We're certainly on a mediocre level as a program now. I don't see that changing since getting the Joes isn't just about recruiting anymore. Well, at least we got to experience the good years.

I think the craziest thing about the Hurricane's offense this year is you could heap tons of praise on them and still probably undersell their accomplishments. I think ESPN's FPI Strength of Record metric does a really good job of gauging how a team is doing, at least in terms of comparing them to their peers. Indiana has scored a lot of points, but people will complain about their schedule. Yes they haven't faced a defense that's better than 31st in defensive efficiency, but they're beating these teams by such extreme margins that they're 7th in SoR. My understanding of the metric is how well other teams in the top 25 would have performed against their schedule compared to how they performed. So the metric is saying only 6 other teams would have done the same or better. Miami's offensive reality is two fold. One Ward is a lightning rod, and he's not only a joy to watch, but as you can imagine it's going to inspire the best out of the defense he plays. The second thing is to consider the fact that they have the #1 scoring offense, most yards per play, the first to get to 5,000 yards, ranked first in offensive efficiency in both FPI and SP+, and frankly are probably on top of dozens of statistical categories, and they've done all this against better defensive competition than anyone else around them. Florida is now 28th, although I'll give credit to the growth and development of that side of the ball, but I still don't know if the outcome in terms of the points Miami put up would have changed. The Hurricanes then sailed their way through to ACC play and, I mean VaTech is 17th, Cal is 13th, Louisville is a respectable 44th considering how high powered their offense is, and Duke is 21st. Those teams are ranked that high in ESPN's FPI defensive efficiency despite having played Miami, which is important when you look at some of the other teams ranked high, but let's pick the top team, Tennessee. I've watched them play, it's a great defense, but how much more efficient are they actually? Here's the offensive profile of the teams they've played this year, NC State 89th, Kent State 134th, Oklahoma 93rd, Arkansas 36th, Florida 52nd, Alabama 11th, and Kentucky 76th. (they also played FCS Chattanooga which does not have available rankings). To me it's the difference of a really good defense that's boosted by playing some pretty awful offenses, compared to Miami really good offense, playing against what are still relatively highly ranked defenses. It's easy to forget things like the fact that Duke had not given up more than 24 points in regulation all season, had in fact averaged giving up just over 18 points per game in regulation. Miami scored 4 touchdowns in 8 minutes of drive time, and 15 minutes and 40 seconds total of game time including Duke drives. That included Ward's inexcusable interception in the midst of all that scoring. People wondered why Cal was trying to establish the run. They weren't connecting on some passes, and without a run game to steal time from Miami's offense (weirdly perfect for the Hurricanes that the one good part of their defense is the run defense), we're witnessing that when Cam Ward wills it they can not only score, they do so in such an efficient manner that they get 5 drives of their own in a 15 minute span.

What does that mean tho? Holding Miami to 45? Miami averages 47+.
@nickpoly483 күн бұрын
I understand my Miami teams lets teams score more than they should. But here is a little nugget for these 2 teams against common opponents. Miami average scoring is 45. GT average scoring 19. If you want to count just common ACC opponents that king has played for GT. GT averages 23 points score. Miami averages 47 points scored. I don’t think GT has the offensive power to hang with Miami even if the defense gives up some stupid plays.
