I am on my 4th version of my diy filter. I just want to know why most builds have slanted pipe and elevated first tank. For better flow? And this really that effective?
@BrizzleKoi3 күн бұрын
@tomthongthavorn2713 I think the barrels are stepped with slanted pipe to get better flow. When I switch my pump on after a filter clean the highest barrel almost overflows until it settles and drops again. Guessing the system would work with level barrels and pipes but the flow would be restricted.
@1tezzers4 күн бұрын
Fantastic job Brizzle, I wish I'd fitted a glass window in my fibreglassed pond, you can definitely check your koi for any signs of sores etc. Maybe one day. Terry - Bristol
@Muttley6913 күн бұрын
Wow, your koi and pond are stunning, I was wondering what size pump you use with your pond. Also, do you run your skimmer with the same pump as in 2 returns of your 3 barrel system ? hat's off to you mate you built a dream koi pond stunning.
@BrizzleKoi13 күн бұрын
@Muttley69 I'm running 2 pumps at the moment. I have a an EA vari pump 20000 feeding my 3 barrel filter (set at 7500 Litre per hour) and the second pump in on my skimmer that just feeds directly back into the pond. It's a EA vari pump 10000 set at 4000 litres per hour. That for the comment muttley 🤣🤣😎😎

Oh geez, Hope it’s all been sorted. You’ve got me thinking I need to invest in a generator
@patrickbaldwin924424 күн бұрын
I know the comments are all after the fact, but if you have a tyre inflator that runs off the cigarette lighter in the car you could rig that to put some air onto the pond
@patrickbaldwin924424 күн бұрын
You need a portable generator just for the important stuff, we have one for the freezer etc in case of a power outage, but for your pond that would be ideal

How do you find the bottom drains buddy im tempted by them but il need 2 as im 5m x 3m i spoke about 5 months ago and younsaid was working well what pump you pulling 10k or 20k
@BrizzleKoiАй бұрын
@leeoliver4063 Hi Lee, yes the retro fit bottom drain is still working perfectly. Can't fault it what so ever! I've been feeding quite heavy over the last 3 months and I never see any fish waste on the bottom of the pond.

what have you used on top for fibre-glass black paint.
@BrizzleKoiАй бұрын
@davidgrogan7541 it's called "flow coat" it's basically black fibreglass resin. You have to add catalyst to it before applying. Hope that helps

Hi mate i have just bought one of these skimmers how far up should the water be once filled?
@BrizzleKoi2 ай бұрын
@michaelmclaughlin3890 I fitted mine too low. You want the water line to be half way up if that makes sense...maybe slightly above half way. I like my pond filled to the brim but because my skimmer is too low it means the water line is above the opening. Luckily I have no trees near by and all that the basket really catches is food. Hope that helps. Drop me an email if you want me to explain further. 👍

Hi...how are you getting on with the Bakki shower, looking at making one myself , so many different options ref design and flo rate etc....has it made a difference to you water quality?
@BrizzleKoi2 ай бұрын
@jonathanbossley1754 i took the bakki shower off my main pond after a few months...purely because I thought it looked ugly. I do however use exactly the same bakki shower on my grow on tank as my only form of biological media and it has work brilliantly.
@jonathanbossley17542 ай бұрын
@BrizzleKoi I am planning on hiding mine behind a wall / screen, they don't look the best but if they work then that's the key, what flow rate do you put through it ?
