Question, can you do half of the pond and then the other the next day for example? I have a large pond to fibreglass and don’t think I could do it all in one go?

How do you find the bottom drains buddy im tempted by them but il need 2 as im 5m x 3m i spoke about 5 months ago and younsaid was working well what pump you pulling 10k or 20k

@leeoliver4063 Hi Lee, yes the retro fit bottom drain is still working perfectly. Can't fault it what so ever! I've been feeding quite heavy over the last 3 months and I never see any fish waste on the bottom of the pond.

@leeoliver4063 just got the one bottom drain. Pond is 3m x 1.5m. I use a EA 20000 vari pump but run it at 7000L/H

what have you used on top for fibre-glass black paint.

@davidgrogan7541 it's called "flow coat" it's basically black fibreglass resin. You have to add catalyst to it before applying. Hope that helps

Hi mate i have just bought one of these skimmers how far up should the water be once filled?

@michaelmclaughlin3890 I fitted mine too low. You want the water line to be half way up if that makes sense...maybe slightly above half way. I like my pond filled to the brim but because my skimmer is too low it means the water line is above the opening. Luckily I have no trees near by and all that the basket really catches is food. Hi...how are you getting on with the Bakki shower, looking at making one myself , so many different options ref design and flo rate etc....has it made a difference to you water quality?

@jonathanbossley1754 i took the bakki shower off my main pond after a few months...purely because I thought it looked ugly. I do however use exactly the same bakki shower on my grow on tank as my only form of biological media and it has work brilliantly.

To be honest from all the videos I have watched on fibreglassing, this is the best and I will no doubt watch again before I do mine. I am still in the design and saving phase 😂. Thank you for taking the time to record and post.

I have an identical system to yours and used to do a clean every weekend which was a mistake. upset the biological system now do every every 3-4 months I live in Sydney Australia water hasn't been so clean and clear.

@2654tyrepower good to know..thanks for the comment! I clean mine once a week in July, August and September when I feed heavily...rest of the time I leave it 2 weeks...sometimes longer in the coldest months. Take it easy bud

Just out of interest what was your ORP reading, in my understanding around 700 is clean good water.

Hi Martin. My first reading was 112mV. After a few mods to the pond I managed to get it to 285mV. I have some great documentatuon on ORP. If you email me I will send it over. [email protected]

It looks like you didn't apply enough resin when you were fiberglassing. It'll cause pinhole leaks. I see a lot of white patches while you're fiberglassing.

@@BrizzleKoi I bought the KK UV & installed today. Will wait to see my pea-soup water improve over the coming weeks. I have a KK multi bay filter (going strong for at least 10 years) so we'll see how they work together. ;-)

So I have not got the solid pipe but just some clear hosing and for some reasons unknown to man or beast, mine keeps slowing to a trickle. I think it's the vacuum issue. All I can think issue to upgrade to ribbed black pipe so it holds form. Didn't use to be a problem for my filter on its own?

@hazzardoutdoors could be the clear pipe being squeezed...solid pipe is definitely the way to go. The solid pipe and bends pretty cheep from screwfix. Is your pump definitely working correctly and not blocked? Process of elimination..work your way through everything

The placement of the UV light. Would it work on the return after the last filter to maximize the biological aspect?

@FishDocx I think it would restrict the flow returning back to the pond. I have always assumed that on a pump fed system the uv goes before filtration. Might be able to get around it somehow mind

@nigellister6812 couple of hundred yards from my house...just looked back through the footage...definitely a grey heron. I got the shot flying over the waterfall then stopped the drone...raised it slowly to get out of the trees...and spotted the heron 👌. Then I chased it. The whole time the drone was out of site and I was relying on the screen. 😎👍🔥
