Small wonder why few, if any, of you can actually use your MA in a real fight. So much time invested in discourse regarding theoretical concepts. Talk less, gong sau more.

I am Wing Chun self-taught, but I can’t, for the life of me, find someone who has been taught so I can learn and practice Chi Sao… Probably one of the better Chi Sao breakdown videos I have watched.

Your stance and structure are together the most important components of Wing Chun & probably every fighting style. Thank you for spending considerable time to draw attention on these points. Without a foundation everything will collapse and break.

One of the best teachers of Kung Fu I've ever had. I trade with him when I was a student in Tallahassee in the mid 90s. I've been around that martial arts world a bit. This man has a full understanding. No question.

It might not work under pressure because the person using it didn't spar or fight enough with it to make it useful...or to discover how it is most useful in a sparring or fighting situation...not a static demo...unless you mean just a static demo which is fine but not super realistic. There is also a huge problem moving from ChiSao to actual fighting because most fighters or attackers are not going to be playing the line or playing with bridges....

If someone stops rolling then I can also stop rolling or just do a technique... @23:37 The rolling is what ChiSao begins with. Then during correct rolling something will happen, someone loses position or takes position or whatever, then the rolling stops and another phase begins where an attack and/or counter attack happens. That's not wrong normally it's just the next phase of that encounter.. If one person takes the line and can maintain control of the line, do a technique, etc, then they would enter the next phase involving faan sao... If they can control and do all that then the encounter stops and resets with another roll... There are exceptions and moves that are not generally helpful..just clarifying that the rolling is how the encounter starts not the entire encounter. ChiSao is not fighting or sparring per se but it does use and train elements found in both... Sparring and learning how to transition from ChiSao skills to fighting is also essential.
@trondyne3513 Жыл бұрын
Better off changing rather than using force against force... Even if you have position and they try to use force, using force to hold the line is not ideal...a small woman won't be able to do it...
