I don't know much about the artist. But he seems quite awkward when the interviewer is asking him about his work like he doesn't want to explain it. He seems a strange character.

This is one of the top 10 paintings of all time imo. It is the summit of eroticism in art, executed with brilliance and exhilarating with sensuality. The female body is such a graceful form, and Courbet captured its energy perfectly.

I've watched several interviews given by Hans-Ulrich Obrist by now..He has the most annoying habit of sorting out papers and writing , .while the guest is speaking. This is most distracting and inconsiderate. If I were being interviewed I would be frustrated at his inability to just be there and listen with a modicum of respect.

Was würden wohl Rembrandt oder Bruegel zu diesem Bild, oder Riemenschneider zu dieser Plastik sagen. Kunst kommt von Können. Wenn dieses Können schon interpretiert und erklärt werden muss, dann ist es das was es ist, Mumpitz. Hans - Dieter Mobertz
