Good afternoon, can you tell me which machine you use to weld aluminum?
@ArghIsThisHandleTakenКүн бұрын
Where do you work? I'm an insurance adjuster and the techs I see don't take the care to do things right like you do, its disheartening to see, really. Just asking in case god forbid I need a body shop I can send it to you.

I’ve been using it for a few days and so far personally it’s better than I was expecting. I got a new box side sanded and started roughing in glass work on a cab corner before I had to change the 4.0

Used to watch a lot of his videos and now I’ve found myself as a collision tech. I suck at body work though lol, feathering and getting it flat is a challenge for me but I’ve only done a few jobs that I had to use filler/icing.

And there it goes. It will eventually be ran how they want it ran
@sergiogonzalez6618 күн бұрын
Shops have fought this legally through the court system and some have one. , but will see how it goes. These cars will get a little more exclusive and a little more technical to fix. Where I’m from the dealerships were the top dogs now it’s these big corporations running it. We’ll see where it goes

I e been in this business for a long time, drp is poor quality they get away with cheap cut time an multiple discounts where there is cuts there is poor quality workmanship, 100% might not be every single shop 98% of drp it is , after junk parts on every vehicle an insurance rates high steer away from drp
@ArghIsThisHandleTaken5 күн бұрын
Is DRP poor quality or are you upset you’re not getting what you want? I’m asking a legitimate question. Auto insurance is one of the most regulated industries in this country and it’s heavily legislated to favor the body shops. If DRP’s were as bad as you’re suggesting they are no insurance company would run a DRP program because they’d have the pants sued off of them. Sure, there are bad apples out there, there always is, but so many shops and so many people who have “been in the industry a long time” never really have proof to back it up. For me, as a consumer, I avoid any shop that makes its entire marketing strategy to rally against insurance companies and/or DRP’s. It comes across as desperate and I don’t trust a desperate shop.
@Reventon199420 сағат бұрын
Not all DRPs are bad, and I agree there are bad apples in every part of the industry. However, many DRP programs prioritize saving the insurance company money, sometimes at the expense of quality. The body shop is far from 'favored'-there have been numerous lawsuits over insurance companies refusing to pay for OEM-specified parts, procedures, and repairs. I’ve personally dealt with vehicles from large DRP shops that had loose bolts, missing parts, or additional damages not present when the customer first dropped off the vehicle. In every case, I worked directly with the DRP's regional manager and the insurer's area supervisor to resolve the issues, but these instances show that DRPs aren’t always what they’re cracked up to be.

@@Reventon1994 I'm an adjuster so I've stepped foot in plenty of non-DRP shops and just because they're not a DRP doesn't mean they do quality work, either. Like you said, bad apples are everywhere. I think it has less to do with whether they're a DRP or not and more to do with how crooked the shop manager is because we all know their pay is based on the profits of the shop. At least with DRPs if you find something wrong and you complain to the insurance company, its going to get made right. Yeah, maybe on the 2nd or 3rd time when it should have been done right the first time, but it will be made right. With "independent" shops I've seen time and time again where they just tell the customer no and blame the insurance company even though its 100% a workmanship issue. So again, my position is its entirely shop dependent and rarely has anything to do with it being a DRP or non-DRP shop. As an adjuster I've taken my cars to both DRP and non-DRP shops.

We had an ambulance come in that got hit behind the driver door where the compartment door is and one of the techs fixed it judging square from the unlevel ground. Door wouldn’t fit, he re did it and still didn’t fit the door before going paint and had to redo it a third time. He fit the door the third time but didn’t account for the 1/8” stainless trim at the bottom so it still didn’t close lol. Ironically the same ambulance is back with a hit on the other side, needless to say he isn’t touching it. That damn door still barely opens lol.

Isn’t it difficult to not weaken the underlying panels by knicking it with the cut off wheel? Specifically talking about the area where the rubber seal goes
@ThomasFagan-iq7ts7 күн бұрын
Yeah it is but that's where time and experience comes in, I use an air saw for my cuts but even then just need to be careful not to knick the inner panels
