I am fairly certain you should not be hooking up the LED power pin on that tft display to a digital logic pin on the esp32. That logic pin does not supply enough power to drive that LED backlight. Not even sure how you were able to get that to work here.

@@ShotokuTech Ok let me rephrase, it doesn't work. I tried following your exact example but was a little concerned about the fact that you were connecting the LED pin (a source for a mosfet) to a logic pin on a micro controller, and sure enough nothing happened when I powered up the device. Then I connected the LED pin to a net with enough power to drive multiple LED and, not shockingly, it worked. It's clearly possible that it CAN work but driving the LED (backlight) pin of a TFT display directly with a microcontroller's logic pin can lead to several potential issues: 1. Excessive Current Draw The LED backlight typically requires more current than a microcontroller's GPIO pin can safely supply. Most GPIO pins can provide only a small amount of current (usually around 20-40 mA), while the backlight might need significantly more, sometimes in the range of tens to hundreds of milliamps. If you attempt to drive the backlight directly from a GPIO pin, it could: Damage the Microcontroller: The excessive current draw can exceed the maximum current rating of the GPIO pin, potentially damaging the microcontroller. Cause Overheating: The microcontroller or the specific GPIO pin could overheat due to the excessive current, leading to malfunction or permanent damage. 2. Insufficient Brightness Even if the microcontroller doesn't get damaged, it may not be able to provide enough current to fully power the backlight, resulting in a dimly lit display or unstable operation (flickering). which btw, is kinda evident in your example. 3. Microcontroller Instability Attempting to drive a load that is too large can cause voltage drops or noise in the power supply line of the microcontroller, leading to unstable operation, resets, or erratic behavior of the microcontroller and other peripherals. Proper Approach: Connect the LED pin to the 5v rail on your esp32. The displays have a built in current limiting resistor (reference the schematics), so you don't need to worry about that. As mentioned, clearly it worked (for you at least) but it's incorrect and is likely putting undue strain on your microcontroller which can have adverse effects.

@@alkaline3mc Hello. I'm not sure I appreciate a lengthy comment that does not tell me something I don't already know. You can't drive high current devices from logic pins. I get that. I can't hold your hand if something you tried didn't work. That is the fun part of this hobby. Somewhere between the hardware and the code, your solution exists. Meanwhile, if you are going to be the wiring police of the internet I just found three instances where someone attached the backlight intensity pin to a GPIO. GPIO21: randomnerdtutorials.com/esp32-tft-touchscreen-display-2-8-ili9341-arduino/ GPIO22: www.instructables.com/Play-Video-With-ESP32/ GPIO32: thesolaruniverse.wordpress.com/2021/03/01/esp32-wroom-32-and-ili9341-tft-display-an-interesting-match/ I wish you well policing the internet over ILI9341 wiring diagrams. It was a bit difficult to tell since the camera was very zoomed in at the end, but it looked like you were able to power the OLED from the M5stamp's Grove port and the M5stamp through the 3.3V and GND. I'm trying to wrap my head around the exact power requirements for this device for making little mesh network relay devices, and I was hoping that the Grove port could be used to supply power to the module since that would make things really easy. I have seen the 5V and GND on the left side used to power the device by soldering a cut USB cable end, but idk exactly what voltage regulation capabilities the device has since their documentation simply links to the ESP32-Pico-D4 datasheet and does not mention how they accomplish power management -- it just says that the input voltage is 5V @ 500mA current, and the power consumption data is all measured at 5V.

Thanks for the video. Maybe Im old but I missed seeing a contents bullet list up front to start my high level sanity check to assess its performance. I'm biased as I dont like videos for learning as they demand a lot of time/focus and arent efficient to present facts (I can grok a list in 3s). How good a job did it do ? Im sure its trying to sell a service and might get better with practice but I wasnt impressed (I wont use it but others might to satisfy some vague obligation quickly). I think it missed the fact we are being overrun by this nascent technology (it is being used in all the listed arenas without legal/moral safeguards). Also a pretty basic fact it missed is that it AI has become an overused term, academic research continues to branch into many forms of AI. BTW the GIGO principle is appropriate as many of these current language models pride themselves that they use ALL known text. They need their training to be filtered with some level of societal standard or their outputs will violate our norms (maybe generating anarchy rather than a Skynet). Interesting stuff.

I recently discovered that the VEXT pin isn't necessary for operating the display; it just made the display a little brighter for me. Instead, to turn the display off, I used factory_display.displayOff(), and to turn it back on, I used factory_display.displayOn(). There is also a .sleep() method, after which you need to reinitialize the display. I think the .displayOff() method only turns off the backlight of the OLED, while the .sleep() method turns off the entire display.

I've been playing with AI under 2 years now and am aware of its parameters so have a fair idea of how to use it to my advantage. Everyone in my circle doesn't have the same understanding or experience that I have so therefore coming to different conclusions. I agree that creativity is somewhat stifled but prompting itself is an art/skill that doesn't come naturally to many. My friend say s AI is crap but really he has no prompting skill for generating images. Zero shot attempts at AI tends to skewer peoples opinion on AI as well. In my personal experience I believe it educates me better than any other time in my life. I have a reasonable level of research skills that I utilize to fact check my findings as well as using my critical thinking. I am generally turned off by AI generated content on youtube because I view it as unethical. I reviewed Christian AI generated channels and they are by far the worst in my opinion. The content creators behind those channels just don't care what message they're sharing I've seen one that has a mixture of different theologies in one video I was disgusted.

One thing I learned in my studies was "Learn how to do XY yourself first, then you can take short cuts" and that is absolutely true. If you don't have mastered the skill yourself, you won't even notice the BS Ai produces and the internet is flooded with AI BS already. Have you ever heard of the dead internet theory? It says in a few years the internet will only consist of bots and fakeness and basically be dead.

Thanks Auriel! You definitely get it as a visual artist.
