Is it for fritz 19? I believe the best option is to do a full uninstall and reinstall to address font issues. I didn't think it was so common anymore but that should hopefully address it.

I like notation on my boards as well. I would imagine since it makes its own PGN's they felt like it wouldn't be required. My DGT does have the co-ordinates on it and I think it looks quite nice. @@tylerkacsor I spent 1500+ on my DGT board 2 years ago and it actually broke from travel, this chessnut air is the replacement as the intent was for playing online at tourney standard. I think this is definitely the better way to go for the price from what it looks like. Do you know how many games it can store or how long the battery lasts on the air? not sure if it uses more battery than the regular air
@tylerkacsor

@@frequensea9434 The battery tests have been difficult in the sense that it seems to last forever so I just keep using it. I haven't played full classical games on it but I don't suspect there would be any issues. It's like a battery camel in my mind. I've heard it can store thousands but thats not official as the documentation doesn't have any mentioning of it last I looked. I think of it as limitless in the sense that there isn't a scenario where my phone wouldn't be around to load into the app or send to lichess or chess.com I spent a bunch on my DGT as well. Its lasted years but the board does have some cracks (perhaps harsh dry winters in Alberta) I never reach for it anymore. I still like it but it's just not near as useful. SOrry I don't have some better answers but the documentation isn't great. My understanding is that the battery usage is more or less the same as there isn't any substantial difference in the equipment used. Do you travel with a hard case? I have a soft case for mine but I suspect it would be worth investing in something more robust. Everything is just so expensive all the time.

It still has quite a few bugs (mis-registration if you accidentally slide pieces, random flashing LEDs, occasional disconnects from chess server games and a particularly annoying issue where it only registers one non-intuitive way to do en passant captures). I think most of the issues come from its use of magnetic sensors (so it cannot tell a pawn from a knight for example, or a black piece from a white piece). Have you tested error handling for swapping pieces (i.e. putting a N back on square that should have a pawn on it)? I was also surprised they didn't flash the LEDs for error squares. USB-C is found on the non-Bluetooth tournament E-Board, I'm unsure if the non-Bluetooth home use E-Board is the same. To relieve mechanical stress on the Mini USB-B connector and the board receptacle, I found a right-angled Mini USB-B patch cable sold by _Lindy Cables and Connectors_ and use it with a small USB-A hub. This is more-or-less permanently attached to the E-Board, while the connections are made with the patch cable.

How long does battery last on a charge?
@tylerkacsor
@tylerkacsor 4 ай бұрын
It varies but I’ll say 8 to 10 hours for my usage. I’ve never used it straight through in one giant test. I usually play a rapid game or two and set it down a week or so and pick it up again. I rarely charge it.

I agree. It’s been a hit wherever I’ve taken it. I’m testing their larger pro board right now but in my mind the go hits a sweet spot and it’s just plain fun to use. Glad you like it. I wish they had leagues for them online.

So , ...I finally did hear back from Chessnut. I actually resolved a rather strange issue with the Chessnut Go, so I thought I would make a follow up remark. The Go , when connecting to the Arena Gui will sometime show an erratic LED on the first move of the game when playing /testing using engine vs engine (match). What I found was that if I connect using a USB connection, I get an inaccurate LED indicator on the first move for white. However, if I connect using Bluetooth , all works well. I only notice this issue when using the ARENA GUI. Maybe this may help some other users. I forwarded my findings to Chessnut as well, which they appreciated.

Love the black and white. If possible, it would be cool to see if you can do board in black/white but have you in color.

Chessnut can play tournaments and puzzles on Lichess? And probably also puzzles? Is it also possible two lichess player play on it? Means physical in the same room at the same board?
@tylerkacsor
@tylerkacsor 5 ай бұрын
Yes. It can do puzzles on lichess and chesscom in the app. It has a section under “study”. I find it takes time to setup so I tend to use a computer still and have avoided that but I might look to make a recording of it since you asked. I am not aware of two players connected to lichess but if you play an opponent in real life when the game ends the app imports to lichess to immediately analyze which is very cool. I find playing in real life against an opponent and having it recorded to be the best feature to analyze. I hope this helps.

The endgame was pretty interesting. The way you moved your king up and down. Did you foresee the opponent trapping their king in the corner or was it a fluke?
@tylerkacsor
@tylerkacsor 5 ай бұрын
I have come across that type of endgame with king and pawn where you can force a draw with the king trapped in the corner so I was aware of the idea. Unfortunately, with extra tempe there would likely be ways to free themselves but if it was just a king and pawn you can make a draw.

As a Chessnut Go buyer, I have a unit that has a flickering light that shows up during gameplay. The company has not offered me an opportunity to exchange the unit after I sent multiple videos showing the issue and following their troubleshooting steps. As a matter of fact they closed my email stream, stating that they will no longer respond to my messages. I think potential customers should be aware that the company is not honoring their warranty policy.

Thanks for the comment. That is really unfortunate. I haven't had any issues thus far, but I will keep an eye out for it. I just bought another board as well... so if I run into any issues I will 100% post a video about it similar to my DGT videos.

Thanks for posting that. If the makers of the board actually play chess they should understand that good customer service is good strategy. I’ll hold off buying one myself, and will not consider it unless they improve their game.

I have the same issue. Have not finished a geme without recognition issues. Tried to return it, but they refuse. Warning for everyone. Don’t buy this product. No rufund in the eu after opening, and the board has trouble with stable piece recognition during a whole game.

It could be an electrical interference, and I also had this problem. Ensure that there is no device too close to the board or anything magnetic.

I'm wondering whether these chess sets can handle Fischer random games [chess 960 etc]? This variant is becoming reasonably popular amongst many of the top players now! I'm with you on the idea of not hooking up to a computer! Preferably, play versus the computer program itself [but knowing its playing strength also]. So, if it's Stockfish, say, state its ELO! So, a future computer may have to have: 1. ability to play chess960 [together with the quirky 'castling' rule!!]; 2. a decent ELO rating [say 3000 ]; 3. a top chess program in it to run apart from hooking up to an online source!; 4. a relatively decent price [for poor ol' pensioners like me!!].

Good question. They can do chess 960. It works with DGTPi connected but I'm not sure how to set it up without one of those or Fritz which also allows for this. Normally the DGT recognizes a new position is setup and will record moves without any computer required. I am not aware of any 960 mode without external devices. I'll try to set it up and make a recording the future. I'll also have a new tournament sized e-board to test side by side.
