Anyone else who liked the 'Crank' movie, watch 'Hard Core Henry,' and 'Boy Kills World,' two of the best unknown over-the-top crazy thrill ride action movies ever. 'Henry' is Russian (everybody speaks English - no distracting subtitles), and the costar was the hero in "District 9." The stunt work is so insane I don't know how the stunt men survived - especially after watching 'making of the movie' videos and seeing that almost all the stunts are live-action with no greenscreen! Both are highly recommended.

Chev Chelios is essentially a video game character. The goofy ending and credits even directly suggest this. Characters and plot are paper thin by design, because the movie is more fun that way. Actions, dialogue, character traits, even physics at times, are exaggerated to create a world that sometimes only vaguely resembles real life. Chev's goal is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible and get revenge on the bad guy. The police, and negative consequences in general (or lack thereof), are there only for convenience to the plot and, like everything else, comedic relief. Aside from a few brief comedic but heartfelt moments with his girlfriend which tell us that, regardless of what he's done, Chev is the good guy, it's non-stop action, ridiculousness, and crude humor. It's extremely stylized but shallow, hilarious, and totally irreverent. One of the best action movies ever made, This is one of those movies that you absolutely have to own on DVD if you love it, because of the special features. Watching the directors using their camera rigs on rollerblades to catch a lot of these shots really makes you appreciate the movie even more. The movie was made on a budget of $12 million. I like the choice to use Google Maps because it reminds me of a map you would use in a game. One of the cool things about it is that the map shots show the actual locations the scenes were filmed at.

I think the rough hand held, Google maps, sort of MTV Jackass theme of the movie is such an interesting take and definitely it's main charm, its unserious and unapologetic and honestly its kinda perfect, something I think the sequel capitalized on, it's such a shock to the system compared to my normal digest of dark gritty edgy movies that don't lose up or have a light moment amidst all the chaos and opened my eyes as a wannabe writer to really loosen up and enjoy media the doesn't take itself too seriously but focuses more on overall enjoyment

I'd originally skipped this movie when it released, until a few months afterwards when I heard it described as a "Live action Looney Tunes," and I immediately added it to my watch list. There was no disappointment, only a crushing need to get other people to watch it. Who cares if I have to give disclaimers saying "You aren't watching this movie because of its quality. You are watching it because it is cheese. And I ain't talking no high class havarti or mozzarella. Nah, we're looking at a ten pound block of Velveeta spiked with jalapenos. Grab a chip and dig in!"
