hello, first of all thank you for this amazing video, can you please share the list with the top rated and suggested ones for you ? thanks @towfur
@towfur113 күн бұрын
Hello thank you so much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed 🤙🏻 so my top rated and suggested yarn is always gonna be the Big Twist Acrylic brand , then the Caron One Pound, and finally the Red Heart Super saver brand. I know in the video I had a couple brands rated slightly higher (such as the Patons wool and the Eddie Bauer) but they’re not always available and probably not thick enough for regular use in my experience.

Hello.. I am from india and most of the yarn you suggested are not available or too expensive here... Can you suggest what ply yarn to use, or what type of material is best, so that i can find something similar in indian market..
@towfur113 күн бұрын
Hello I’m sorry to hear that, so in my research I believe one source suggested that my favorite yarn brands are typically 3 ply and the material for rug tufting that works best in my experience is acrylic. Best of luck finding the right yarn for your tufting journey !

You should separate the colors first, and try to practice or cut with scissors first so you could get an idea of the feel and look and next time don’t go so deep with the clippers on the 45 degree so you can always fix it.
@towfur118 күн бұрын
Hey thanks for your advice! I always wondered why people would go in with scissors, makes way more sense now, I’ll def be putting in practice.

Thank you so much! I just started "my Journey" as people love to say, this weekend. I'm about 6hrs into doing a rug which is the "dragon Ball Super" logo..if you google the logo any idea how you can tuft the "super" thats in the Japanese letters? Its so small.. I know I cant do that with the gun. Itll come out so booboo lmao. But I really appreciate the tip with the yarn Lots. You saved me big time with that!
@towfur118 күн бұрын
Hey I’m happy you’re getting into it and my tip about the yarn lots helped! Oh the lettering is definitely a challenge for me as well , I usually say keep checking the finished side and maaaayyybe very carefully use some scissors to get it just right or try to get the graphic as big as possible!

Man, you just changed my mind. I was going to get the corded one because of this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/g36TepWZbql3e7s but I am positive I want the battery one now. As someone who just found out about this today, what do you estimate that it costs to get to the point where I can make 2 36x26 inch 4 color rugs per week. TIA. I like your production style. Simple, informative, and helpful. Subbed.
@towfur112 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! That other creator did a great job but I really love my wireless tufting gun now I can’t go back haha. I would say it costed me about $40-60 to make a tufting stand with similar dimensions to the one you mentioned. Rugs around that size won’t cost too much for the yarn probably about $50 or less in yarn cost (depending on how many different colors altogether)I would estimate off the top of my head. A big sheet of tufting material is about $30 which should get you 4 or more rugs with those dimensions and the glue is about $30-40 for a gallon I think on amazon which should last you about a month or so on average with that many rugs being made so all in all about $160 to get started and then around $100 after you’ve made your stand. Happy tufting!

I’m a knitter personally, so I don’t know a thing about tufting and can’t appreciate the information in this video like your fellow tufters can, but I definitely appreciate the effort this took. I have a question for you: you mentioned tufting by hand; how do you do that? It might make a good video idea! Congrats on 300! 👏🏽
@towfur112 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment! I know it’s not the most HD video but I put a lot of love into it so that means the world to me! And yeah I actually do have a hand tufting tool it’s basically a big hollow needle with a wood handle and a little eyelet to feed yarn it def takes a lot longer but I’ll make sure to cover it!

@towfur112 ай бұрын
Hey I’m sorry to hear that! So when I’d have jams I’d check the scissors (when the gun is off of course) and spin the gear to make sure the scissors are at the right distance and cutting properly. Another thing to watch out for is that same plastic gear I mentioned, I got yarn stuck in there before and it was causing all sorts of issues. Hope that helps!

@towfur113 ай бұрын
Hey there so I connected the square with 4 foot by 4 foot wooden 2x4 boards and I have two 6 foot-ish 2x4 boards on the sides holding them up. Then for the “feet” I have two 2 foot 2x4s as well. I combined everything with a combination of 2 inch and 4 inch screws and a few 90 degree metal braces to keep some of the boards more stable.

I did my frame at home, and since in Europe, we don't have such thing like carpet tack strips (at least I wasn't able to find near my place), i had to improvise and i used a piece of wood and small nails, then I bended them, so once they are on a frame, they are heading outside and keeping the cloth perfectly. It's definitely longer than what I see using people with tack strips and better for cloth
@towfur115 ай бұрын
I like the improvisation, putting the nails at an angle is definitely the best method I’ve seen to keep the cloth in place, my new setup has the nails straight out and it’s been harder to find a way to keep everything tight on the tufting stand, though I will say I haven’t had the straight nails strain the material too much either so grain of salt for my method I guess! Good luck and enjoy tufting !

@towfur115 ай бұрын
Hey there, so I haven't gone so far as to trying to adjust the height for loop pile myself since it was sort of inconvenient but from the wired one I have and the wireless one I just got there's a way to adjust the loop height by loosening a few screws and pushing back one of the parts that the scissor part is attached to. Sorry for the long explanation and I hope that helps! If not, tuftipedia.com is a great resource!
