Yes sir. I couldn’t imagine doing this in my old Warehouse Kayak, but you have to start somewhere. Keen to try a multiple day mission to a few of these islands during summer for a bit of an explore trip. Thanks for watching.

Really loving your content Andy and the fish you catch. Your kayak is a grunty slay machine. Really nice to see some content on your side of the motu. I prefer sunset fishing. I find the water temperature to be more consistent from day to evening. I’ve also noticed the fish are hard on the chew about 45 mins to sunset. I tend to catch the most fish around this time. I don’t know why, but it seems to be very consistent. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments Jezza. Good to see somebody hitting the sunset fishing. Interesting comment about the water temp , makes sense. I remember in the old days the guys picking up the 20’s in the shallows all swore by the sunset bite.

I would have to agree.... I think the idea of cold wet dark packing up the kayak puts us off doing more sunset trips but definitely see more action just as the light drops. If filming wasn't so crap maybe I should try an overnight session to see what its like kayak fishing at night.

Nice Andy. One of many benefits of winter fishing is that there is far fewer boats and jet skis buzzing around and ruining the peace and quite. I'd be betting that during summer you could well get a nice kingy along that spot you were prospecting

Nice feed Andy and another good effort with the video. Yeah that mud can get ya. I’ve been caught out many times. Are you using the GoPro remote when you film? How do you rate it? Are the cameras on all day throughout your video shoot?
@KingsWithAndy
@KingsWithAndy 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Jezza appreciate the feedback, Im not using a GoPro Remote but I do use the Insta 360 remote for my 360 Camera, that was a good purchase as its a pain to have to extend/retract the boom to turn on off the 360. I dont have the battery capacity to have the cameras running the whole time *yet* but something im working towards... there is a trade off with editing effort havign to trawl through 8-10hours of footage vs missing the take or unique shot.... I think I might get to a point of having the 360 always running (battery life is good) but for now I scramble to turn them on when the action starts.

Another good vid, do you think a smaller live bait would have kept you hooked?
@KingsWithAndy
@KingsWithAndy 2 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, I think there was an issue with the circle hook not free moving. Potentially the hook might have turned into the live bait… will experiment with some other options…. I think the size of the live bait is the reason a massive king took it….I have had previous success on big baits… maybe a bigger hook required

Excellent as always. Misbehaving livies can be so bloody frustrating....always want to bury themselves in the weeds/reef as well as tangling the lines or wrapping the line around the rudder especially when you stop to throw out a softbait when you see good sign on the finder.

Im glad your enjoyed it. Regards the tether I have one and use it if I’m offshore or days that the surf is up…. I find it gets in the way a lot. The Stealth paddle holder on the nose does a great job of keeping the paddle safe and out of the way. Otherwise the paddle is firmly in my hands :)
