Every part of his face projects it's own singular expression. It's like an array of colours on an artist's pallete constantly being mixed and producing new shades and tones. Wonderful. ❤

Such a underrated and legendary actor. Had so much potential. Such a shame he was cast in so many low budget films with crappy scripts. He’s as good of an actor as Anthony Hopkins.

That was his own choice. At one point during the eighties he decided that every acting-experience from then on should be an entertaining one, so if a movie was shot in Hungary, he would drive over there for a little holiday instead of being in Hollywood on a red carpet

Right at the start he talks about some TV show or something that was 'Knighthood / Robin hood' related. Was he in an old Dutch TV show based on Ivanhoe ? was it any good ? I can find him on YT in something called 'Floris' which is in black and white
@fit20rijswijk242 жыл бұрын
Hey men, I never comment on youtube but Rutger is one of the greats sooo this one time I will😁 yes, “Floris” … it was also called “Floris and the Fakir” in the beginning… I saw those sooo many times as a kid😂 the story is more like robin hood with costner and freeman actually. A strong knight with a smart eastern person with al the smart tricks… have fun!😄

I am so sad he's passed. I think I always will be. Rutger Hauer matured beautifully from an awkward looking young boy in his early movies (Turks Fruit, Keetje Tippel, etc) to an established talented, unique and very very handsome man.
@catherinea4695 жыл бұрын
Rutger Hauer was brilliant! He was the star of Nighthawks in spite of Stallone's presence. He was wonderful as Roy Bette in Bladerunner. He was crazy good in The Hitcher with C. Thomas Howell, Fantastic in Blind Fury! Who knew he was colorblind? Wonderful in Soldier of Orange and Escape from Sobibor & so many more movies, Handsome, charming, intelligent..I wish I could have met him.

I think he looked better as he aged, maybe not at the end of his days but when he was in his 40s and 50s, Rutger was gorgeous. As a young twenty something I dunno, I thought he looked awkward somewhat...he had a long hair Jon Bon Jovi type look which didn't suit him. Hot as John Ryder in the Hitcher!

There's something in the expressions of his eyes and how he talks, constantly moving and shifting slightly, that strangely reminds me of Bowie. It's probably the continuous searching, questioning , rather than arriving at final answers, both had in common.

Advertising is worse because it is full of talentless hipster rich kids with little imagination or life experience. The interface between working class and lower middle class grammar school kids at art college is sorely missed amongst the Oxbridge/public school mafia
@davidbellamy75606 жыл бұрын
I think I understand what Rutger is saying; a really good film is one where you find yourself asking questions about, and imagining, things that are not seen or said, asking about a characters past, their future or their hopes.. These actions are inspired by your connecting with and caring for what is happening; you just want to know more and in doing so you actually participate in the story-telling. In this way there is a sort of secondary world formed and a substantial part of the film watching experience is about you filling in the gaps. It only happens when the acting is good (or when a book is well written)
