Big MISTAKE #1 WHERE IS YOUR SHOULDER HARNESS ?? Looks like its flapping in the wind You need some basic instruction on flying before you hurt yourself. I hope your flight training isn't from someone on the ground with a radio.

Am I wrong I’m assuming that these ultralight aircraft should be able to glide ? Or no ?
@clearedtofire
@clearedtofire Ай бұрын
Low mass, high drag. They do not glide well at all. As soon as the engine loses power, the pilot needs to lower the nose and prepare to land because airspeed loss happens right away. The pilot in this video tried to keep the plane airborne too long. He missed several good opportunities to land safely with minimal or no damage to his plane.

Pitch for speed. Power for altitude. If you're too slow, banking will cause the inside wing to stall and you'll spin. Thanks for posting so others can learn. If you're losing an engine, land immediately and straight if possible.

Had one in our hanger 40 years ago. It was like a Bentley. The interior had precious wooden panels that you don't find in ordinary airplanes. And the engine, (I think it was a 985) was plenty powerful enough!

@TheJenix57 - Sorry for your crash. You're extremely lucky you walked away with no injuries. My advice as a former Private Pilot, and later an ultralight flight instructor, is to get some flight instruction if you intend to fly again as you clearly need to learn the basics, including stalls, why they happen, how to avoid them, and how to recover from a stall. As others have mentioned, you unknowingly broke every common sense rule by taking off with an iffy engine and continuing the flight until your luck ran out. As others have mentioned, this incident was totally avoidable had you recognized the problem and immediately landed. Again, please get at least a few hours of quality flight instruction before attempting flight again. Good luck!

All I can say is that speed is your friend. You lost that and ended up this way. Optimistic about recovering engine power. Sorry this happened to you. Might just have well have happened to me other than my hang gliding experience and instructor ALWAYS pounding into me about speed. You DID have plenty of chances to keep that up avoiding this. BUT,, Hind sight is 20/20. Sooooo glad you survived brother! Thanks for posting this so that others can learn. Brave man!!!!!

Always review flight instructions. Also pre-trip your aero light 103. Check tension on control right to left be sure it's adjusted to level tension.

Pay no attention to Keyboard Top Guns. Thank you for posting this. It gives all us pilots a chance to review our decision making process on takeoff. Even when trained everyone goes through an initial denial phase at the onset of an emergency. Training and practice helps us react faster.

I also watched the video of your first flight. I haven't seen a worse Landing. I recommend a serious discussion with your teacher about whether flying is a suitable hobby for you. Has anyone even taught you to fly - at least now, it would be time for a professional to intervene. However, funeral contractors are also professionals.

WOW!!!! All that OPEN SPACE, and this is the result. Sir, you need to take this as a dire warning, and never attempt to fly again. You couldn't have done any worse if you tried. You are very lucky, due to no help from yourself. You failed every decision, terribly. Am I being rough, you better believe it, cause I'm sure this guys family would rather him be alive in the future!!! Stay on the ground Sir!!!

Im not an aviation expert, but you did no runup before take off, your engine sputtered just before leaving ground, it sputter again just above runway with enough space to land and you proceed, its all your fault, you should get enough training before your next try! Thanks god you are alive.

Oh boy. I listened to this a second time. You clearly had engine problems way before rotating speed. Your first big mistake was leaving the ground. The second was not keeping up airspeed and landing in that field. I hope you LEARNED from your mistakes and don’t just blame this on bad luck. This was absolutely avoidable. I am happy you are alive

Glad you are ok. From the sound of the engine I would guess fuel starvation. It doesnt sound like the ignition ever interrupted or even that it didnt fire on a cylinder. Even after the crash it took far longer for the engine to come up on RPM than it should. Any thoughts from your perspective on the potential issue? Any previous problems with how it ran or was this the first hint of a problem? Again glad you are ok. I would love to see what the plane looks like now also.
