That was highly respectable for a first flight. KZbin pilots out there need to bear in mind when one is flying a new aircraft for the first time, the pilot is experiencing, feeling, and learning in real time, just what that particular aircraft wants and needs. How fast airspeed decays on approach, pitch, yaw, sensitivity, etc. Also, your muscle memory and reflexes are in tune to another airframe. Truly on the job training. So that was excellent in my book.

Classic low time pilot mistake at the end there. Rate of descent was too high, pilot saw the ground rushing up towards him so he quickly pulled back on the yoke. Should have added power. Pulling back on the yoke at those low speeds (region of reverse command) caused the wing to begin to stall, increasing descent rate. Adding power would’ve reduced rate of descent, cushioning the landing Pitch controls airspeed Power controls rate of descent Not a criticism of the pilot, as we are all learning, all the time.

And his decent was perfectly fine. He was already in a flair when he pulled back so that wasn’t needed

Big MISTAKE #1 WHERE IS YOUR SHOULDER HARNESS ?? Looks like its flapping in the wind You need some basic instruction on flying before you hurt yourself. I hope your flight training isn't from someone on the ground with a radio.

Id rather muscle the approach way ahead of the power curve...the landing space needed is significantly less than say 172...or....Cherokee 6..

That's the first thing I noticed. I had a buddy do the same thing about 15 years ago. He was so excited about his first flight that he forgot the seat belt. Every first-flight pilot should have a crew, even if it's one helpful friend, to go over a checklist. Otherwise, kudos on your first flight!
