This looks like the same william Miller grappling Chen Ziqiang and getting tossed. people in that video say he has no grasp polling experience. Turns out he does.
@taijistevie3 жыл бұрын
That was an event I personally host. I might be mistaken, but I believe that was the first grappling competition he had entered. I was also at the seminar with Chen Ziqiang and conducted an interview with him for an American Kung Fu magazine.

I trained my 13 form watching his video ad nauseum 2 years ago. Now, I see his form so differently from 2 years ago. So much of internal power movement, barely discernible then but now so much details to see.

great video .. there are masters on youtube who 'exude' qi ... not to be confused with steam. rather it is the way the 'whip cracks' movement starts at the root and moves thru the body until it 'snaps; at the finger.

"This is not a cookie cutter art but a method of self expression using the proper tools, physically, mentally and spiritually." I agree fully with the above statement. As long as we understand the martial application behind the creation of each move in the sequence, it really does not matter if you don't do it exactly like Zhu Tiancai, like rubber stamping him. I watched the videos of Zhu Tiancai's sons (Zhu Xiangqian and Zhu Xianghua) demonstrating the form, and they not only differ from their father, but between themselves as well. They were all performing the same moves, but their individuality showed. Zhu Xiangqian is more martial in his movements, and he teaches Chen Tai Chi in Singapore WITH martial applications being taught - one of the very teachers who teach the martial application. I always said that Tai Chi is like Chinese calligraphy. If you ask ten people to write the Chinese character for Dragon (龍) with a brush, next you ask a hundred Chinese to read it, and all of them would say "Long" which is the pinyin for 龍 , yet the handwriting are all different if you use measuring instruments to measure the length, width and angle of each stroke. Like Chinese calligraphy, Tai Chi is an art. My own Chen Tai Chi is very elementary at this stage, and I am copycating other people. That's because that's the only way I know how to do it for now. But according to my own personality and temperament, I find myself doing it closer to the way GM Chen Zhenglei does Tai Chi than say GM Chen Xiaowang or Zhu Tiancai does it. Still, I know that I will never become exactly like Chen Zhenglei because I am not him. Our bodies are different and our respective journeys of life had been different. He is whom he is because of what he had been through, and I am whom I am because I had walked down a different path.

This 13 Form was created by his father, GM Zhu Tiancai. I like the way he did it, which is more textbook style, and suitable for the beginner and for coaching. His father did it beautifully, but it would be hard for a beginner to do it like him, and express the Qi which are apparent in his movements and those silk reeling. He was also not wearing the traditional Tai Chi uniform but a rather tight fitting trousers which made it easier to see whether it was a right or left bow stance in certain moves --- again very useful for a beginner who may confuse whether the knee should be bent at the right or the left when doing say the Single Whip, Lazily Typing the Coat etc.

actually ZTC has been my teacher since 1998. I have even produced many of his videos including 13 postures. . this is in deed his 13. he has at times omitted the first Buddha's warrior and started with lazy about tying coat. Chen Bing also has a 13 posture chen form ,but different from ZTC. As I mentioned before both Chen Zhenglei and Chen Xiaowang also have short Chen forms with 19 or less postures. Not sure of the details of their short forms.

Sorry, stevie, there are NO "other" 13 forms. There is just one 13 form taught also by Zhu Tiancai, and his followers. Tittle of your video is misleading, that´s my point ... it should be presented as "short version of 42 form" or w/e it is (i do not remember). Have a nice day.
@taijistevie9 жыл бұрын
Hercule. The form demonstrated is the 13 Posture version of Laojia Yilu taught by Zhu Tiancai all around the world. Other Chen 13 forms may exist as well as many other short forms taught by Chen Zhenglei, Chen Xiaowang, Chen Bing etc... with other teachers
