The wee woodland walk you did at the top of Jacob's Ladder was the old railway line. You should check out that history too... Also. There have always been cars down the front. I used to sit there years ago but now their cars have very loud exhausts and they like people to know that...😇

pretty sure you are not allowed to fly a drone on the approach to Edinburgh airport
@GingerManWithACam2 күн бұрын
@@arandonmusicvenue9431 it was just height restricted, wasn't as high as it looks. Certain areas around the airport you can't fly drones like ratho, but out at Cramond on the foreshore was fine at 40m. Thanks for your concern.
@arandonmusicvenue94312 күн бұрын
@GingerManWithACam Crammond and roughly where you were flying is in or on the boundary of the red zone of the safe flying Edinburgh map available online. No flying at any height is allowed. It is the approach to the airport and pilots get very nervous. Might want to edit that section out.

As one that works in Cramond it was nice to see you wandering along the river towards the estuary. If you go back to just under 8 minutes when you're walking on the busy road. That huge hedge that was over your left shoulder belongs to none other than author JK Rowling.

Cramond Inn was arbitrarily shut by its owner, Samuel Smith Brewery of Tadcaster, citing poor business and three break-ins as the reason. It is just one of numerous pubs that company owner Humphrey Smith shuttered due to his draconian rules that include no mobile phones, no children, no laptops, no foul language ('foul' being open to interpretation), no dogs etc. In essence Mr, Smith discouraged patronage, which ultimately justified the shutdowns. In some instances new live-in management is enlisted, only to be fired on a whim. There is much to be found online and KZbin about him and his shutdowns Cramond is frequented by dog walkers and visitors with children who would like to have a seat and a meal, only to be rejected or ejected. The pub was a key attraction for Edinburgh folk wanting a day out. The good news is that Humphrey retired in December. The bad news is that his son Sam will now be in charge, no doubt with his father maintaining hands-on control.

Thanks for this. It's really interesting to read. Great wee location for a pub. It's a shame it's not been run well.
@Reprogrammed_By_SEGA4 күн бұрын
I suspect it would be better served changing it to a family restaurant if they want to move in that direction. I think traditional pubs are on the way out and regrettably there are many economic factors as to why that is but having unsavory customers is definitely one of them, I don't think the atmosphere in pubs is that appealing to many people anymore. People say they like a nice quiet pub but a nice quiet pub doesn't keep the business going and a packed one is horrible.

I agree to some extent, the central belt, especially west of Edinburgh seems to have some issues with investment into town centres. The green spaces are the saving grace and need to be protected.

When you were heading by the bowling club if you'd of followed that road heading up south it would have taken you upto 'The Station' where the old railway line used to be, you'd also have passed Balquatson house which is a pretty impressive building. Once up at the station there is a woodlands walk accessible via the swing park up there (well hidden) which will eventually take you out on the backroad which has good views and other forest walks and would allow you to complete a full circle and come out at the school area again

Why is it called Burntisland ginger man… will you tell me in this video
@GingerManWithACam10 күн бұрын
There is no definitive clear answer to this question, however, this is one explanation. "It is difficult to ascertain the origin of the name. The traditional story is that it arose from the burning of a few fishermen's huts, upon a small island on the west side of the harbour, which induced them to take up their residence where the town now stands"
