I agree with your assessment wholeheartedly! It was definitely Kishane’s inexperience that caused him to lose the race. However,Kishane has nothing to be ashamed of. He did well and I am sure he will do much better going forward. I saw the race on TVJ feed and they interviewed Kishane after the race. Kishane was disappointed with himself. He said he felt that he beat himself because he lost his form in the last part of the race which caused him to tighten up and, as a result, slowed down rather than go faster. Based on what Kishane said it reminded me of Usain’s race with Justin Gatlin--Gatlin was the favorite to win that race and he was trying so hard to beat Usain that he lost his form in the last part of the race and you could see that he was trying to dip too early and of course Usain won the race. If Kishane had relaxed and kept his composure the outcome would have been different. As I said before, he did well and should be proud of his achievement! Oblique was also very gracious despite his disappointment. He said that he felt pain in his groin and slowed down as a result. However, he was happy that Kishane was able to get a silver medal in the event for Jamaica especially since this is the first medal since Usain retired.

@Reggie_621 Great question. This is another event that again has a loaded field, and I felt may be just too difficult to call. As I reconsider the event, I must say that Acera Nugent's sub- 12.30 seconds does put her in contention for a medal. Keep in mind, though Camacho-Quinn the Olympic Champion, and Tobi Amusan the World Champion and current World Record Holder. The prenence of Danielle "Ants" Williams, along with Nugent, does sweeten our chances for a medal if both imake it to the final.

@user-rt7vn2nv7u I would never count out Shelly in an Olympics, but the final is being projected to have a "crack" field. Shac'Carri, Julien Alfred, Ta-Lou, and Shericka are the big guns. I agree those three athletes made a terrible decision in not running in the qualification relay. It shows that we have lost touch with our great historical connections. A people who forget their history and their great historical struggles will cease to be a great force for good in this world. Up you mighty race you can accomplish great feats if you remember your history.

I like the history lesson. Not sure if your conclusions are valid. You are making a lot of assumptions and not even noting them. Not sure if this is because you’re being disingenuous or just not thinking straight. Are you implying that if someone has a cramp or some discomfort they should just go ahead and run the 4 x 4 relays and put in themselves in jeopardy for some serious injury? If that’s what you’re saying I totally disagree with you. They have to take that advice off their coach and the team around them. Remember if they get injured neither Jamaica you is going to pay their bills that they have. You’re just gonna extend sympathy maybe.

First of all one big truth about this is the demand of the sponsors , is for you to excel in your individual event and nothing about what happens in the relays. Hence the athletes have to put an emphasis on their individual events, that they are been paid to perform. It is cool if you can get a relay medal , only after your individual event was given your all . The jaaa dropped the ball for not arranging this qualification a lot earlier. Would you have put up your money to support the athletes to concentrate on relays and forget about their sponsors and individual events ???

If we only concentrate on Butler & Leon then the status quo will remain. We have to be willing to recognize that a paradigm shift is needed. Butler explained that Leon, since 2016, has not had a break and as such has asked for this over-due vacation. Other players (,Pinnock, Hutchinson, Antonio, Roofe, Jamal Lowe et al) have all taken time off for one reason or the other and we have not lambasted them for it. I think we are allowing our dislike for Butler to cloud the issues at hand. The civil rights movement was not popular among millions of people, but out of that ordeal and those demonstrations came amelioration and a better way of life for the oppressed. Butler is highlighting the fact that the conditions under which the players are asked to represent the country need to be brought up to the global standards. Now, do I like the way the camp is going about it? No. I think both camps need to come to a compromise and meet each other half way as baby steps are taken to improve conditions. Certainly, Mr Butler's cry to have Mr Speid removed is not logical. Mr Speid's position, one must acknowledge, is one of an elected post as opposed to having been assigned. And to boot, Mr Speid works and has done much for football locally. So, while we look on and take sides (as human beings do) let's do some deeper analysis into what are being asked for. The player, while not at his best when playing for Jamaica, has stated his love and commitment for Jamaica on many occasions. Let him have his break and come back when he is ready. I leave everyone with this question to chew on: Has Leon ever been paid over the years for the games he played for Jamaica?
@Its_I_Ziggyman
@Its_I_Ziggyman 2 ай бұрын
The question you asked at the end can be asked regarding ANY player. So, if you don't have any tangible basis to ask about any other player, then do not shift Bailey into that position and then try to use him as the scapegoat for whatever it is you're attempting to insinuate. And, as to your opening comments: If Bailey has not taken a break since 2016, as you seem to believe, then who's fault is that? Is that our fault? What does he do in his time off when the season comes to an end? And I bet you don't know that he has been playing for Jamaica since 2019, and not 2016 as Butler is erroneously trying to have us believe. This year, for example, his season ended on May 19. So, if Copa commences on June 22, how exactly, within that time-frame, is he prevented from journeying to Disney Land, if he so desires? I suggest you pay careful attention to the fact that Butler is talking out of two sides of his mouth. Butler has also shown himself over the years to be a compulsive liar, as well as one who has the tendency to grossly exaggerate. It should stand out like a huge billboard - if its' about time off, then why the requirements and conditions? And why the unavailability of Whisper Richards, who's from the same camp? Another thing: The statement that other players have taken time off but that somehow Bailey is being "lambasted" for it. Don't be ridiculous. Players take time off for injuries and other mandatory stuff. I can reference a case where Ethan Pinnock pulled out of a game because his wife had given birth. There clearly is a thing with Antonio and a load management stipulation by his club. NOBODY takes any time off to go to DIsney Land, or for any other frivolous-sounding reason. The man even has a party on June 21, which, in the event that he was a part of the Copa team, would have taken precedence over his availability for the opening game of the tournament? What other players have you seen this kind of ridiculous nonsense with please? The fact that his availability to play for Jamaica actually commenced with drama back in 2019 - when Butler wanted to stick up the federation to include his son, Kyle, in the team also. And just this year Bailey basically said, in an interview, that Jamaica can't do anything for him. Butler was there on Sportsmax trying to spin-doctor the comment. And the fact that all of this drama began after the coach suspended Bailey from the Nations League semi-final against the USA. Frankly, I do not see how any rational, well functioning person can be understanding towards Bailey (and Butler) in any way. I don't get it one bit.

@@Its_I_Ziggyman Wow! That was a marathon. Understand though, that there will always be two sets of people on this Bailey issue: those who agree with him and those who disagree. There is a word for it; it's called Life We have seen players refusing over the years for one reason or the another. Michael Laudrup (Denmark), Ben White (England), Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico), Johan Cruyff (Netherlands) Samuel Etoo (Cameron), Juan Riquelme (Argentina) among many others had reasons at one time or another to refuse call-ups and no one batted an eye. Above all else I pray that Bailey Will fix his mental issues and find his way back into the ReggaeBoyz STAT.

I think several underlying factors have to be looked at: 1. What gave rise to this current trend. 2. the ISSA transfer rules. 3. The updated rules that now include foreigners under the quota system. 4. Champs being broadcast via stream and can be viewed by anyone, anywhere. 5. Athletes who would be familiar with the competitive, electrifying atmosphere of Champs, and who would want to be a part of it. 6. The fact that some of these foreigners would not necessarily have been actively recruited, but who would have had an inclination of their own. 7. In some regard, I understand where you're coming from with the perspectives shared, but I also wonder whether we are we making a mountain out of a mole hill, in what is a Caribbean Community, and a world community by extension. I think t is a valid point when others make reference to the innumerable amount of Jamaicans who have sought opportunities in other neighboring islands, as well as many other countries across the world. I don't know - ere we being a bit ethnically biased with regard to the foreign students? The numbers are really still extremely small, when you look at it in the broader context. If there were thirty foreigners at Champs, just by estimate, there were more than a thousand locals. I'm not sure if that would be cause for alarm. But I don't really have a firm stance on the issue - i'm just kinda playing devil's advocate.
