The original Gearwrench wrenches were made in Taiwan. The current wrenches are made in China. That may account for the increased thickness and slop on the fasteners. It sucks that they sent you a lesser tool but at least they honored the warranty.

Jeff did reviews on a couple of their products and they look pretty good. The chrome appears to be nice and they are affordably priced. Only time and usage will tell how good they are. I had Mac, Matco and Snap-on swivel sockets in the past. The Mac and Matco sockets would loosen up and get floppy in a relatively short period. Their sockets had hex head screws in the joints. Tightening them did not alleviate the flop. The Snap-on were the best in my opinion and stayed tight even with heavy use. They have pins that are driven in and ground flush. My current swivel sockets are USA Craftsman. They have held up surprisingly quite well. I have yet to break one. They have gotten floppy though. A couple of the sockets have roll pins and the others solid pins. I actually have a 1/4" 12mm Craftsman swivel socket that I had to use a 3/8 ratchet for a specific situation and amazingly it didn't break.
@PapasHobbyGarage6 күн бұрын
they will all loosen up I just use a o ring to make them stiff again. I am gonna start using them this weekend. I will do a updated review in few weeks.

Both the Gearwrench and Husky wrenches are made by Apex Tools. Gearwrench is owned by Apex. Home Depot owns the Husky name and contracts to Apex to manufacture the tools. They are the same exact wrench. The only differences are in the names and marking. Apex also owns SATA tools and manufactures the Duralast tools for Autozone. The Husky, Duralast and SATA quick release ratchets are virtually the same. There may be tooth count differences and SATA have a comfort grip version whereas Husky and Duralast do not.
