Question: Would a story about my journey from placing dead last at my first International sports competition to winning my event ~4 years later, where I glean a lesson around perseverance through challenges, be too generic? It's very different from the types of examples you showed, and I'm worried that the lesson will be too generic (+ hard to mention those Stanford proper nouns with this type of story). Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I took singing lessons with this vocal teacher but these were private, Amhrest requires a letter of recommendation for the Músic or vocal performance supplemental material so I was Just wondering since im an international applicant, my teacher doesnt speak english, should i let them upload the letter in spanish or should i Just upload myself the translated versión of it?

Hi, I just got into Brown and let me tell you, I did all of the things that he said to do in my writing (without knowing that I was supposed to do them) but I did not have the best video portfolio. This video has great information but remember that it’s also really important to be yourself because the reality is that you won’t have a good experience somewhere where you maybe don’t belong (personality wise that is). Hey Kevin my name is Yaser, im a junior in highschool , and i'm already stressing about college applications. I was born in chicago but i have studied the majority of my life in morocco, a country in north africa, my dream is to go study in Duke and after that play basketball at a professional level in the NBA, I do have some problems though, first of all I get avrage grades(C's) and from what i know i have to take the tofel(Test of English as a Foreign Language) but it'll take a big amount of time and money, I am really confused about this because i asked one of the teachers in the american language center and he said that i don't have to take it if I want to. Another problem about studying in the USA is Money. Can you please help me get through this?

Problem 1) packing everything into the personal statement 2) the résume dump - try to talk about stuff that can’t be found anywhere else in application, or take a basic idea and flip it (Costco essay) 3) problem solution ratio - don’t spend majority of essay saying what happened to you instead of making things happen 4) eureka problem - shifting from problem to solution, show 2 problems to present perseverance 5) cliche reflection “through starting my nonprofit I learned importance of community etc”
