I have watched at least 2 videos before this one, now I'm a little surprised that you are just 16. I have thought that you are arround 35 or even older, because you talk and sound like that.

My way of talking? Sure. My voice? No shot. I talk slower in videos to make sure there isn't any misunderstanding. I definitely don't sound 35 irl

@@m0rtal803 It's not your voice, it's more about what you are talking about. As I said before, I have seen at least 2 other videos of you and my impression of you was ... that is a person who has already a family, a job, released over 20 games and have seen the whole world. I'm gonna say it, I really liked your previous style. I'm still staying subbed but I found the slideshow format you had before much more engaging. I understand it was more intensive, but quality over quantity, especially early on in your channel's lifespan.

I like that one better as well. I wanted to use a combination of the two styles, but I just didn't have the time yesterday. For the next video, I'll probably put this style that I'm talking about into practice. Thanks for the feedback and still supporting the channel!

I feel like impact is a very skewed perception in my mind. You need to consider what you're doing to other people, yes, but I feel anyone can make a net positive impact on the world regardless of their work by simply treating the people around them with respect and generosity. You can't carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. If the opportunity presents itself, do the right thing, but most of all do what's right for you and yours, cultivate your own garden and take care of your corner of the world first and foremost. Maybe what you do in the world helps many strangers in a meaningful way, but if your family is struggling, you haven't seen your friends or neighbors in years, and you don't even have the energy left for anything else in life, I feel like you'd be justified in acting more selfishly and taking care of what's close to you first and foremost. The bleeding heart can only give so much. Take care of yourself first and others second.
@m0rtal8034 ай бұрын
I totally agree with you. It's most important to take care of yourself and the ones closest to you. If everyone did that, it would be great. My issue with that is that not many people actually do so, and that's what I'm trying to achieve through this video: encourage people to do that. On the point of carrying the world on your shoulders, I think your advice is good for most people, but I've made a conscious decision to put more pressure on myself in that regard, as that is something that I feel like I want to do. I'm only doing that because I am already coming from a place of privilege and comfort, where my life is mostly sorted out.

My definition of success means improving yourself for others. Be it friends , family or even a community. I’ve been able to improve my cooking skills and even though I know I’m better , it feels 10x more rewarding when my mother enjoys my food and actually wants more 😂
@m0rtal8034 ай бұрын
Rewarding is the right word for sure! Others being thankful for what you do motivates you to a degree few things can reach. From this, you can also take away to remember to be grateful for the people in your life and to let them know that!

The contrast in your stories primarily seemed to emphasize having a well structured routine and plan for your dev process and life, and that separately benefitted the dev process and health. Health doesn't give you a notebook with a list of things to do, but it can make it easier to focus on and accomplish those things.

Dude, BlackThronProd is not a good example of a game dev at all! They did not create any successful game and looks like they won't (yes, they have 3 games, but neither one is successful). They only sell and market their paid tutorials. Yes, all their youtube videos is about marketing their tutorials. Do not make them an example, because they are a very bad one.
@m0rtal8034 ай бұрын
I disagree. Perhaps they haven't made the most successful game, but I think that's because they chose not to do that. They wanted to do something different and not just be another indie game dev channel, so they decided to take this direction. It does feel right now like they are too marketable for my liking, but if you watch some of their older videos, Noa talks about health himself quite a bit and I've learned things from him. Another thing to bring up is the impact they have on the scene. Perhaps they didn't make a successful game, but if they are part of the development of 20 other devs that make successful games themselves, isn't that more impactful?
@gyokzoli4 ай бұрын
@@m0rtal803 It doesn't matter what they decided. One thing is sure what you also said that they did not make any successful game. And that is a fact and that means that they are not successful game developer. Yes, they are successful but not in game development, they are successful youtubers and they are very good in that. But, and this is a huge but, they are selling success in game development which is just disgusting.
@m0rtal8034 ай бұрын
@@gyokzoli Why does one have to extremely successful in a domain to teach it? Coaches are a great example. Sure, some of them are retired, but others are simply there because they couldn't make it as a player. You don't need to be the best game developer to teach game dev to beginners, you just need to be a good one. Communication skills are more important than that. I think Blackthornprod have offered me enough information through the GameDevRocket course that I bought for me to learn from it and then go further in my journey the way I want it. Also, they've invited actual successful game devs on their podcast, so you can learn more from them.
