I think our view of success is flawed. I will try to fix that.

I think for me success means happiness. My definition of happiness will probably change in the future, but for now it means getting in better shape, pursuing my hobbies and spending more time with my friends and family.

My definition of success means improving yourself for others. Be it friends , family or even a community. I’ve been able to improve my cooking skills and even though I know I’m better , it feels 10x more rewarding when my mother enjoys my food and actually wants more 😂

Rewarding is the right word for sure! Others being thankful for what you do motivates you to a degree few things can reach. From this, you can also take away to remember to be grateful for the people in your life and to let them know that!

I feel like impact is a very skewed perception in my mind. You need to consider what you're doing to other people, yes, but I feel anyone can make a net positive impact on the world regardless of their work by simply treating the people around them with respect and generosity. You can't carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. If the opportunity presents itself, do the right thing, but most of all do what's right for you and yours, cultivate your own garden and take care of your corner of the world first and foremost. Maybe what you do in the world helps many strangers in a meaningful way, but if your family is struggling, you haven't seen your friends or neighbors in years, and you don't even have the energy left for anything else in life, I feel like you'd be justified in acting more selfishly and taking care of what's close to you first and foremost. The bleeding heart can only give so much. Take care of yourself first and others second.

I totally agree with you. It's most important to take care of yourself and the ones closest to you. If everyone did that, it would be great. My issue with that is that not many people actually do so, and that's what I'm trying to achieve through this video: encourage people to do that. On the point of carrying the world on your shoulders, I think your advice is good for most people, but I've made a conscious decision to put more pressure on myself in that regard, as that is something that I feel like I want to do. I'm only doing that because I am already coming from a place of privilege and comfort, where my life is mostly sorted out.
