The 4th position on strat with 11 is just mind blow. I use 9 at begining and it sounds like rat at high fret.

Some of the Jacob Collier songs I've been listening to EVERYDAY are below. If you're someone who thinks all of his music is "too much" give these a listen. the only thing I can agree with some people is I don't like the tone of his voice sometimes but the way he a arranges music makes up for it. Also all of these songs feature other singers that make the tracks amazing to listen to. these are the ones I think a ton of people could def listen to over and over without getting overwhelmed. Feel - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jH7denWEeMSioKssi=eKM58v2uVkXVOiWm (If you love d'angelo and rnb/soul music this one is a MUST) Never Gonna Be Alone - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hH7SZWlmbbZgj68si=jyh7mwhck6anjFnd Cinnamon Crush - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqWbZXWLaJp5iZosi=ZJ2Kmf6Ep2ZuRKT6 Ocean Wide, Canyon Deep - kzbin.info/www/bejne/onutpICOgd98frcsi=sm3sgk8o6SPp81fs In Too Deep - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2LOopaDZ96qhK8si=XuZ4Fr_QOdYmeQqp He def is a genius in a mad scientist kind of way.

I've always liked JC. I listen to him every day. Little Blue, Hideaway, Never Gonna Be Alone and my recent favorite A Rock Somewhere are the tops of my playlist.

He is a great human and does not need to be judged (Album of the Year) - he is bringing joy to the world and doing things the way he wants to - he doesn't need to please everyone or anyone - but the people the engage with his energy become incredibly overjoyed, feel loved and are better people.

Actually, I think he only studied at RAM only for a few weeks, after which he left. Also his mother had him and his two sisters form a quartet since they were 4-5 years old and they played music together every single day, Jacob playing all kinds of instruments. So i think that was his actual training. 10+ years playing in the family quartet under the guidance of his mother (violinist, conductor and teacher at RAM).

I like Rick and Rhett, but sometimes I don't agree, and this is one of them. I pick hard and I stretch hard, I like the strings to fight back. 9s sound thin. There is no right or wrong, do what works for you, but please don't tell me I should do, and I'll return the favor.

As Schopenhauer said: “Appreciation of (Jacob Collier) passes through three stages. First, he is ridiculed. Second, he is violently opposed. Third, he’s embraced as self-evident.” Ok so the analogy founders a bit but you get the point. I only discovered him LAST WEEK, and the words fail me to describe his output- profound (audience choirs!) patient (Lua) soulful (Feel) transcendent (World o World), tender(Stars), rocking (Well)- the list goes on and on and if you can say with a straight face his music is bland, I’ll show you someone with their fingers in their ears and their head up their arse! I don’t get the hate- maybe he’s uncovered a lot of jealousy and inferiority complexes. But his towering musical genius tied with a bow of humble gregariousness and generosity makes him very hard to dislike. Jacob certainly seems like the one to move music (and society?) to another plane and I’m here (hear) for it. Keep going Jacob and don’t be distracted or discouraged by the naysayers.

Music, as painting or cinema, is a mature art that has been pushed far beyond the comprehension of the average listener. The good thing is, you can stop at any point of the trip and say: "Ok, I don't want to go further than this, I feel really good in this spot", and that's perfectly fine. But some people want to explore, be surprised, find out what are the limits of the art. That's what Jacob offers and that's why he's so special.

A lot of people mentioned moon river and little blue as his most emotional work and I really wanted to give him a chance. I go to YT search only to realize I've listened to both of these and forgot them completely. 😢

Jacob Collier makes music that Rick Beato would jizz his pants over. that's how I would describe it. Interesting for people who are into theory and wacky ambitious music, but not much for anyone else who just wants an enjoyable song to listen to

“Or just mediocre on a lot of instruments…” “Where’s the story?” What in fkcu suffering Christ is wrong with people? No other group of people have their collective heads up their asses farther than those musicians standing on the sidelines throwing rocks at the artist who actually doing.

I love him. I am 67 and l can see a good soul. So refreshing and disobedient. An explorer, an adventurer. No boundaries. I really love this guy, because he is real. Next Tuesday I will have the pleasure to see him in concert in Basel. I will go with my son who is a musician also. Just thrilled to have the chance to finally see him live. This guy has moved me like no other musician since Stevie.

I haven’t listened to that much, but yeah it just seems like his pieces are just not tasteful. Also his personality is kinda that “mommies special boy” vibe. Which I find really triggering. There are plenty of genius composers who Broke convention but did it in a compelling way. Thinking about Thelonious Monk for example. When I listen to collier I don’t get the feeling that it might grow on me over time. Sounds like an audio engineer had too much on his final assignment.

None of Jacob Collier's critics could do a 100th of what he does on Moon River alone. His accomplishments musically to date rank with those of Mozart and Beethoven. If you don't understand or if you're not moved by him, there's always Kenny Chesney.
