I have gone two years in a row and will be back this year. This shit is a mf master class. You cannot tell me these dudes are not the top of the top. I wish more musicians did this. Sit in and let em rock. AP Music on Steroids.

The commentary from the camera man was both needed and necessary. It was the “extra sauce” in the bag that nobody ordered, and none of us knew we needed. Thank you, kind sir!

I always wonder how Chris Dave get that bass drum sound, is he playing very lightly with minimal gate to maximize the EQ’d/compressed sound from PA?
@littleoceansound Жыл бұрын
It's really something. I know he is extremely particular about tone and texture and is known to be hard on sound guys. He often uses fluffy beaters and often plays with an open kick. It also sounds like it's tuned pretty low.
@LixinQin Жыл бұрын
@@littleoceansound yeah it sounds incredible, I can imagine it must be a challenge for sound guys, with his unorthodox setup and it's always changing

Just ran across this and don't YET have time to watch (looking forward to that..). BUT I really wish it wasn't vertical video. Drives me nuts seeing everybody holding their phone vertically; it's ridiculous. The composition is just awful (granted, it's more MY issue because I shoot photo/video as a full-time career.) TV's, computers, tablets and phones will fill the screen if it's horizontal. Vertical leaves that stupid black space on the sides. Plus I'll bet you can zoom in to remove all that wasted space. Instagram is turning everybody into a shitty photographer and videgrapher. Other than my silly rant, thanks for holding your phone for 90 minutes; I'll watch later.

I've actually switched to shooting in 1:1 so I can format for both vertical and horizontal

Chris met his creative dead end many (10+) years ago, a lot of it expressed in multiple snare drums/shitty cymbals, etc. And to be fair, it was in small part because he never met any musicians who were his equal and on his specific creative path/time/or technical level. much of his playing is just sbored/frustrated jerking off technical showmanship...public boredom and silliness, unfortunately.
@littleoceansound5 ай бұрын
you know, this may seem like a hot take, but to be honest, and I've seen Chris live 6 times now, it's true. Unfortunately, but it is true. I'm not sure if he is just done, or if he will find someone who will get him there, but since the DeAngelo and the vanguard tour he has been visibly bored.
