Basically, mlb teams are training grounds for LA & New York teams. More than likely the only teams that will be able to afford to pay Tucker will be Dodgers, Mets or Yankees.

If McCormick bounces back, it's not a bad outfield. CF is a defensive first position, so Meyers is OK. At this point, the starter will either be Leon or Lefty Trammell.

Altuve signed his contract, played up to his contract, and look at that, was rewarded with another contract. I don’t understand why this is hard to grasp for you guys. Crane is willing to sign guys. If Alex signed and played up to his contract maybe he gets another one but let’s not act like Alex didn’t get paid. And if he wanted to be here he would be. It’s absolutely his decision to leave. If he signed his contract he would’ve made over his 11 years of contracts with the Astros $300 million, which would be about $27 million a year. Altuve is the highest paid 2nd baseman in MLB. And will have made $324 million. And so it’s not like they weren’t being paid. The Dodgers have spent over $1.6 BILLION in FA since 2020 and the Mets said hold my beer and signed Soto to the worst contract in sports history. I’ll take the way Crane runs his team any day.

Great sighing here but the Yusei Kikuchi trade is starting to come back and bite us in the azz giving up 3 guys for a rental and one of them being Kyle Tuckers Replacement in Joey Loperfido will hurt us in the outfield. I understand the trade since we weren't going to resign him in 26, but they could have gotten a massive haul from a bidding war had they held off longer. Paredes isn't that great and Wesneski is decent but not an ace, so the key piece was a potential star in Smith? C'mon, man! Our outfield looks like total crap now, assuming Alvarez will stay at DH and Paredes is most likely taking Bregman's spot after he signs elsewhere. Yikes...this sounds like a Baggie-approved fleecing
@walterheisenberg251Ай бұрын

@Chasingdreams_Ай бұрын

@schlootleАй бұрын
This trade wasn't for Wesneski in the slightest. Paredes is a perfect fit in Houston and Cam Smith is an incredible prospect. Houston succeeded by having great prospects rise up and fill the spots left from players who left. Honestly it could be argued this is an overpay by the Cubs. Its only 1 year of Tucker, the same Tucker who split the bone in his leg
@Bc232klmАй бұрын
Cam Smith is now the Astros best prospect.
@walterheisenberg251Ай бұрын
@@strictlace just for context, paredes is a much better fit here than in Chicago. If he played here last year, he’d have 26 homers and not 19. He’s also under club control for three more years: there is plan B when Bregman moves on to the Yankees. As for Wesneski, he throws fairly hard, strikes out some guys, let miller and the pitching lab get a hold of him. Even if he’s average, he’s cheap and we’ve got him for five years. Can’t have enough pitching. Smith is a lottery ticket, maybe he’s a bust, then again he immediately becomes our top prospect. He played third in college but he’s got the size of a 1B. Give him another year of development in AA with the goal of getting him to AAA by July? August maybe? Like I say, maybe smith busts. But I’m betting he’s at least an average big leaguer. We weren’t paying Tucker anyway and we got more than a comp pick for him. And consider this: after this year, kiss Jose Abreu (19.5 mil), Rafael Montero (11.5) and Ryan Pressly’s (14 mill) deals off the payroll. More flexibility allows us to pursue more free agents. Today was about retooling. All in all, I give this trade initially a B, with potential for an A if Paredes is the everyday productive 3B and either Smith or Wesneski turns into a really good player. It’s unrealistic for all three to happen but hey, even better if it does. Lighten up, bro.

I’d offer him 6 years for $180M with the 6th year being a team option with a buyout if the Astros don’t want him back. You will solidify a premium position with a guy who plays a gold glove 3rd base that you can book a .250 average, 25 homers, and 85-90 RBI’s. A guy who shines bright in the biggest moments which is where your team lives (talking playoffs). If his play starts to fall off after year 3 or 4 you can always trade him. Some team will take him because they would feel that maybe he needs a change of scenery or maybe they’d take him because of his championship pedigree. You can always trade him at a later date
