The majority of scholars' past and present hold calling on the dead is haraam. They fall into a few views: just haraam; haraam that is major shirk and haraam that in certain circumstances can lead to shirk. A very small minority hold it is permissible. If you hold dua to the dead is permissible this is what the vast majority of Christians hold. This is the major Shirk I rejected from them so I could embrace Tawheed and Islam instead. The majority of Christians hold it is permissible to call on Jesus (who they hold is dead); some allow calling on Mary (Jesus's mum) and some also allow calling upon dead "righteous" Christians (they call them saints). Funny thing is even a small minority of Christians hold it is not permissible to call on Jesus (who they think is dead), Mary (who is dead) or Saints (who are dead) they hold a monotheistic person must only call on God and not anything other than God (be that thing dead or alive). If they know this, why is it some Muslims still do not understand it is not permissible to call on the dead? In fact it is major shirk.

The issue is not Visit Graves & make Dua FOR the dead. The issue is, people ask the dead to be intercessor, of dua. Eg call dead sheikh name in dua because he was pious, more holy, more love by Allah(according to their misguidance). Don't conflate the issue. Asking from grave vs Asking from Allah for good to the deceased.

The man I’m talking about is homosexual and devoted to behaving in the traditional Maidu Indian way. We should learn from him.
