We are in Illinois looking at Wyoming and checked out Rawlins and home prices for what you get compared to Illinois is really tough. 400k buy you a lot of home with basement and a acre or two but Wyoming not so much. I guess when people say Wyoming homes are affordable they are comparing to California?

Riverton, Wyoming is the furthest west the Chicago & North Western Railway was built. The C&NW was taken over by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1995.

My wife was born and raised there. Her Sisters are still there, My wife loves Runza but I never cared for it, But the best part of North Platte is Bailey Yard. It is the largest railroad yard in the world.

When we moved from Nebraska to Missouri we drove through this little town at night and from time to time l think about this town for no reason. Its weird.

Rawlins is a cool little town but sadly its in serious trouble like most small towns in Wyoming, I live in the state for over 25 years moved, and just in time, we now live in East Texas and love, it, unlike Wyoming the economy in Texas is booming more jobs than they can fill, good paying jobs, house, apartments, cabins are easy to find, rent, or buy, its beautiful here, we live in the country, with all the deer, and Possums, we love it! Wyoming is in Economic Free Fall, Sky High Unemployment, and utility bills can easily get way up to $ 500, to $ 700 just for a small house, bigger places can get up to and over $ 1000 per month very quickly, Rawlins, Green River, Riverton are all in bad shape, people moving out in increasing numbers.

Every time we travel from Cheyenne to Cody to visit relatives we blow through Shoshoni both ways. We should stop and support what is left of the town before it’s completely gone. Amazed it’s still there.

More important than not blinking, is DON'T SPEED THOUGH TOWN!!! Well known speed trap, and it's kind of the only source of income for the police department. Also, the corner gas station has been torn down and replaced with a nice new travel center, directly behind the old station.

Wyoming sucks bub!!! I know!! You stressed Rawlings was just a bunch of hood ol’ boys etc etc…I serviced City Market there though I lived in Colorado. People there smoke hard…drink hard…most have rotten teeth (Fact!!) and nearly all don’t wash their hands after taking a sh*t!! Yeah I know…I took care of the plumbing so I saw first hand how many dirt bag people in Wyoming are just straight up nasty! I quizzed a couple of female employees that worked at City Market if women their even washed their hands after using the restroom. NOPE was the answer. So if you think Wyoming is such a great place…live there since it’s generally do frack’n windy that a wind of 15mph is considered a calm day weather wise…bub!! Combine that wind with snow storms and I 80 is closed for 2-3 days in a row…Wyoming is a literal hell hole!! You BUB!! don’t know shit about Wyoming. Enjoy

We were there for the Great Shoshoni Traffic Jam on August, 21, 2017. Cars were backed up in every direction for at least half an hour.
