Thank you so much for posting this! I've been looking for the companion piece to the main show for quite some time. I'm glad I finally found it. Don't know why I haven't run into it before? But I knew very little about them at the time except where they were from and that they were a bit of an underground darling, I thought they were a perfect opening act for the dead. Slightly contrasting style, of course everybody had a contrasting style to the most unique live band in history...... The sound is fantastic for an opening act, her voice is so unique and rich, it just invites you along for the ride. I knew nothing about them and I thought they were excellent whereas that same year I went to Syracuse to see the rolling Stones reunion tour steel wheels, and living color opened up and at that point Vernon Reed was the hottest guitarist in the country and they were literally the worst opening act I've ever seen. And I think a lot of it was because the stones don't let you f*** with the soundboard even the tiniest bit but still man they were just terrible whereas these guys who I barely knew were a joy.

Thank you for this post What an absolute treasure this concert footage is. Incredibly well shot and crystal clear. I had forgotten how amazing the 10,000 Manics were back in the late 80s and early 90s. The song selections here are among their best; sweet sad stories of powerful importance. Merchants vocals are powerful and clear and her stagecraft superb. Her dervish dancing mixed with quiet moments sitting on the lip of the stage are a perfect combination. I saw many of those Manic performances when they played in the northeast, each and every one a fantastic event. Those first four Maniac records are classic. Merchants’ solo efforts pale compared to her artistry displayed her and her work with the group. How I wish they had stayed together longer. I think it was Robert Buck’s dazzling guitar playing that really wove the musical alchemy that made these songs pure spun gold. Wow, how I miss them.

It's unbelievable to think I've been listening to their first record for more than 30 years. I was too young to see them live in 1993 and had no idea they did a reunion show in 2019. I'm so sad I missed that! I saw a short-ish clip of that show in a Lancaster news outlet and I was blown away by how tight they were and how great they sounded. I hope I get a chance to see them play together someday

I wished there were more of the songs from the first album both here and at the 2019 show but it gave me a bigger appreciation for the second album.
This video is as good to watch as it is to listen to. It is a pure gem. Takes you back…nothing short of a dream.

Well if I was born in 72' instead of 82' I would taken 2 or 3 yrs and followed them like people followed Grateful Dead and Dave Matthews Band. Her voice is just that amazing

The renditions of Scorpio rising and gunshy at the end of this show are so pristine and powerful, the band is really achieving brilliance at the end of an actualized, locked-in set. Jerry so solid, I’ve enjoyed this footage for the cameraman’s sense of his focus and drive on the material. Buck always so controlled onstage, makes me smile.

@@HOW365Clearly a personal opinion. I just wanted to say that I share your view. I love her but her days in the Maniacs were amazing and I miss that. Thank goodness for KZbin. RIP Rob Buck who contributes to their unique sound.

@@HOW365I know what you mean, but she left the band 31 years ago. These recordings and their early albums (like most bands) were the music of young musicians with a lot of energy and things to say. With changing times and influences, their music was bound to change as they aged; even if they had kept the same line up and all got on well through the 1990s and early 2000s.
