Great video. I drove along here a couple of weeks ago in sunshine with the roof off😊 Interested in your exit route through the forestry Road. I drove down there thinking the byway ended at a road. However, the forestry roads were securely locked with no way to get to the main road. I turned around and exited further back through a housing estate. On closer inspection of the maps, it looks like the byway ends shortly before joining back up with public roads. What's are others opinion on this exit?

@@jeepxj8903 - Interesting! I spoke to a few lads on bikes who pointed me the way. I'd lost reception at that point, so I was trusting my instinct and just trying to follow both my nose, and signs. 1h-24m-30s, where I pull over, is where the bikers spoke to me, hence the fade... but I basically went 2-oclock direction, if that helps!! Thanks for watching.... hope to catch you on a lane sometime!! :)

Try a few gentle lanes, and gradually build your confidence. They're surprisingly capable, and I've seen them walk over obstacles that big trucks struggle with -- They have a very good ratio of power and weight. (Yes, I have a 50mm liftkit on front and rear. I also have an engine tune which was done on a Dyno, to go from 112bhp, to 155bhp, which helps!) :)

@@oldboyoverland Hello, well you are driving your Land Rover over other people’s property. You are doing anything beneficial to the lanes or the people that own the lane. It’s purely for your own pleasure. I suggest buying some land yourself. So how do you feel about me entering your property whenever I feel like it ?
@oldboyoverland11 ай бұрын
Hey @@tom4412 - Now, this will perhaps be a bit challenging to hear, but please bear with me - It's important you get this right. . 1 - It's not "other people's property" - They're legal rights of way, as outlined by the council.... and everyone has legal access. You can read more about that here, in the "beginners guide to greenlaning" - Your local council will also clarify --> glass-uk.org/about/where-can-i-drive.html . 2 - It's not "purely for my own pleasure" - Yes, it's fun. But the association I'm part of, does a lot besides. You can read more about the Police get involved with our projects, and some of the other stuff we deal with (like repairing surfaces, so farmers can maintain access to their own land), here --> glass-uk.org/about/projects.html . 3 - "How do you feel about me entering your property whenever I feel like it?" --> If you'd like to try and enter my property, you'll be treated as a trespasser, as that would be illegal. Greenlaning on permissible byways, with council permission, as I've done here, is not the same thing. You can read more about The Green Lane Association, "Code Of Conduct", and how to stay legal, here --> glass-uk.org/about/our-code-of-conduct.html . . I hope that helps clear things up for you :)
@tom441211 ай бұрын
Hello @@oldboyoverland Thanks for the reply, at least you are sticking to the legal off road routes. Yes I hadn’t considered certain individuals do indeed trespass. There may well be a legal right of way for anyone to use, but still there’s no getting away from the fact that the green lanes are another person’s property. The land owners may have had the right of way imposed on them against their will. Out of interest if you owed an area of land. This hypothetical land had a green lane right of way passing through it. How would you feel about others driving threw your property?
@oldboyoverland11 ай бұрын
@@tom4412 - First up, thanks for being so kind and polite. It's brilliant to have an adult conversation on the topic. These things sometimes descend in to needless aggression, and no-one wins there. . Nextly - Yea, I'm 100% against illegal routes, and "off-piste" - I discuss it in quite a few of my videos. It ruins land, traumatises stock and wild-life, and can be a nightmare for farmers. I'm 100% on the side of the land-owners on that one. After having seen the stats, though, that's a tiny % of people. You'll always get the odd hiker that drops a bit of litter, and the odd car that goes off the marked lane. Tiny fraction, ruining it for the most of us. . Regarding: The hypothetical. Good question. I suppose if I was a person that was against permissible rights of way, I probably wouldn't buy a piece of land with a right of way running through it. Reminds me of a mate that bought a pub. Two years after he bought it, a couple moved in above him, and then raised complaints about the noise. He lost his license. ...just didn't make sense, you know? . Oh, and regarding, "The land owners may have had the right of way imposed on them against their will." --> I follow that stuff pretty closely, and actually we're losing 100s of ROWs. In fact, with te NERC act, I think the number was close to 1000s of right lost. (Shame for bridleways, pedestrians etc too) If you're aware of anyone having a right of way imposed on them, I'd love to hear (any links for me to read are a bonus) . On a side note - My understanding is, most of the Greenlanes were built FOR vehicular access, trade routes and farm access. Many are historic, and can be tracked back on maps, since Horse and Carts -- I'm a big fan of Old English history and I hate to see that closed, when its clear we can all work together, and there is space for everyone.
