*Translated my thoughts using Google Translate* The TWIM community has referred to the original teachings of the Buddha in the tradition of Bhante Vimalaramsi. That was the absolute lowest common denominator. How is it possible that you are still teaching there? You know exactly that TWIM is not separate, but rather part of Buddhist teachings. You also know that according to the suttas, no other teacher is allowed. I feel cheated as a regular donor. How can you reconcile that with your conscience? I was so shocked and disgusted by the interview.

I think it’s incredible that you choose to say what you feel deeply within instead of only sticking to what you are expected to say. I have found inspiration in that and you are helping bring light to things that have been overlooked/misunderstood. Thank you for your wisdom.❤

Thank you. Happy holidays and Merry Xmas to you, too. I think your timing of discussing Christ's birthday is a little funny (a little synchronistic?) as I dreamt my parents were randomly informing me of Buddha's birthday just the other night after I forgot my own keys.. Aha! Well, the lack of sense in that all happening actually makes perfect sense as I, too, was raised Catholic 😂 But I really appreciate moving away from 'isms'. It seems common that on the path towards compassion, insight, enlightenment, etc, there tends to be pitstops in spiritual superiority. It is as if to look down on others who appear to have not yet reached the same level of acceptance, detachment, understanding, or what have you, that this somehow can convince us that we have 'arrived' and 'found the way' instead of recognizing just this as evidence otherwise. Anyway, there is a reason there is so much overlap in spiritual and religious ideas and systems. I believe there is also a reason why there are what appear to be contradictions. If only we could all meet in the middle 🙏
@delson9995 күн бұрын
Thanks for your input! Yes, "isms" are part of a model that works for structure, up to a point. However, the Truth gets lost in translation, like in a game of telephone. This is why I'm exploring more of the Integral Theory approach and Ken Wilber. Check out Radical Wholeness. Very good book!

@delson999 thank you for your recommendation, it sounds fascinating. I have to admit that I initially googled the author himself and this article came up: The Rise and Fall of Ken Wilbur written by Mark Manson. Quite an interesting take from someone who seems to have a long history of following Ken's work. He seems to make mention of the similar pitfalls befalling him and his followers. Makes me wonder: is it simply unavoidable? Even an important step? All knowledge as a work in progress really rings true to me though. I will check out the book 😊

@@LeftOfToday Perfection is a dangerous idea to the mind. No one should ever be held to a standard beyond basic humanity. Awakening doesn't perfect you. It makes you accepting of the flaws we all possess. And it allows for more flow of life and spontaneity. Everything else is optional and some things can never be avoided if it is in one's fate (karma)

I spent a few days in retreat recently with the lovely Ven. Obhasa, a female Bhikkuni and wonderful TWIM teacher, who tells the greatest and humorous stories in her dhamma talks. I also learned in conversations with her how there are patriarchal ideas amongst monks. Thanks for calling this out, Delson. I disassociated from Roman Catholicism for this very reason and would like to see outdated teachings about women, etc dropped too. Maybe if the Buddha was born now, we would have some tweaks in the precepts-perhaps including screentime!

The attainments of Anagami and thus also, Arahatship are by definition free of all cravings for sexual union. I do not buy the concept that sexual desire must only be attenuated. Human beings at age 80, as I can attest, are free of the hormonal basis of sexual desire due to the aging of the body. So that, yes, for Arahatship, one must be totally free of sexual desire, and No, Delson is a young human being and thus is under the burden of sexual hormones. However, do not despair kids and fellow yogis, you too can find the potential to progress to Arahatship thanks to the absence of these troublesome hormones at age 80 or thereabouts, should you have the good fortune to live that long.
Its cool being undead though ne. Welcome to the club. I liked the experience. Im actually a scientists. I tested it too.

For additional clarity: Verified on X 11/17 in a tweet, Delson is NOT renouncing his claim to attain Nirodha Samapatti for 24+ plus hour durations as he has stated he is able on Guru Viking Episode 102 @1:25:02. He claims the anecdote about being moved from one location to another via friends carrying him while in Nirodha is true. Upon further questioning he mentioned that he is not, at this time, willing to be observed doing a Nirodha session of 24+ duration in front of expert witnesses. He said "I don't feel like it right now". He also said he would be unwilling to sit for 8 hours in duration in any state on a timestamped livestream.

Hi Delson, You mentioned that you "renounce any claim to specific attainments." Unfortunately, I find this statement a bit confusing, as it doesn’t explicitly address what many would consider your most significant attainment. For me, and likely for others, the only attainment that truly matters isn’t a title or recognition from any Buddhist school or tradition. What stands out is your claim to intentionally access nirodha samapatti, which, to my knowledge, has been validated through scientific study. If I’m not mistaken, I also recall that you’ve taught this practice in the past. Your renunciation raises a few important questions: 1. Are you still able to intentionally access nirodha samapatti? 2. Does your statement in any way invalidate parts of Dr. Laukkonen’s study? 3. Do you currently view nirodha samapatti as necessary or helpful on the path to awakening, or has your perspective shifted, seeing it now as a distraction? I apologize for raising this publicly, but I feel these are far more significant questions than any sectarian politics or misunderstandings that may have arisen. I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve faced, and I understand it was unintended. With love and respect, Arek
@delson999Ай бұрын
@@ArekStryjski appreciate the questions. Suffice it to say when I mean specific attainments I mean I don’t subscribe to sectarian ideas of specific models like arahant or jivanmukta, etc. I am not renouncing nor denying my meditative capabilities.

Thank you for your honesty, transparency, and directness, Delson. I have found practical benefit in the TWIM practice and did a helpful 10-day retreat with Bhante Vimalaramsi at Dhamma Sukha eight years ago, but I do not adopt anything as dogma and I combine the TWIM practice with deeper explorations into subtle aspects of nonduality, which best matches my direct experience. The idea of worshipping a teacher or being a follower makes no sense to me and runs counter to what seems to be true, so far. I may have more to ask after I watch your latest interview in which you likely go into more depth. In the meantime, respect and lovingkindness to you, and appreciation for your sincere efforts to assist others and to find the truth yourself. 🙂

My respect for you really went up after listening to the guru viking podcast. As much as I love TWIM, I always felt much static with it and the attitudes of those purveying it. Part of me felt that you did too, eg were presenting yourself to be more dogmatic that you actually were. Delson unleashed is really a breath of fresh air. -- Lila (I did 2 retreats with you, one at dhamma sukha and one online retreat.)
