Im curious, we can scramble by doing only legal moves, but because of the nature of the puzzle if you just shattered it then reassembled it randomly would that put the puzzle in an illegal unsolveable state or would it always be solveable regardless of the configuration?
@RowanFortier8 сағат бұрын
@@samwilde8311 the permutation wouldn’t matter, but if you put the last piece in randomly, that can lead to a corner twist 2/3 of the time

Fun fact: The analog of 2:48 is like how you cant pull a piece of a 2x2x2x2 into the 4th dimension and twist it! That would also be illegal! :D
To make it very clear - this video talks about the 4 spatial dimensions. Our universe is actually 4 dimensional, but with 3 dimensions for space and 1 for time. _Btw. all objects are always moving at the speed of light, but 99,999...% of the speed is in the time dimension. However this still means that the faster you move in space, the slower time passes for you even if it's by very small fractions of time._
Does it mean that Ma = Ra' La FW ? This would be similar to the 3d, where M = R' L x.

You know something I haven't seen explored yet? Additional time dimensions. So far, all the rubiks cubes you've been referring to work within 1 time dimension (ours). A 3x3x3 is actually a 3+1 dimensional cube (+1 being the 1 time dimension). So theoretically you could have a 3+2 dimensional cube which would have 2 different time axis that work independently. I really don't know how this would work, though.

I love Heise method. Because it makes me think. I solve the cube instead of applying a bunch of rehearsed moves that I don't understand. Small detail: I am a mathematician. This means that I am biased towards anything that mentioned algebra. This method is not the best in terms of speed. It actually quite slow. But it is universal, as it can be applied to any rubik's style puzzle without any modifications. This does not mean that you should love it too. Not at all. It is a method for people who like math, algebra, and who just want to be able to solve the puzzle without memorizing any of the algorithms and to whom the speed is not an objective at all. The method is also good for generating solutions with small average number of moves. but it is nowhere near the god's number.

In principle you can of course make any cube in 3d (or even 2d) by just having each sticker represented in an arbitrary configurations and defining what permutations you are allowed to make. The gyros seem to be in that spirit. I'm guessing the additional design requirement is that you have to have each 4d piece represented as a single 3d piece and the challenge (beyond actually designing the gyros) is to have cubies that can simulate any 4d rotation with 3d rotations, yielding the same permutation of the stickers as the 4d rotation, right?
@dukenukemforever691220 күн бұрын
You can't really have 4th dimension in space. It has to be time. there are only 3 dimensions in space.

i don't deem any of these to be actually physical representations. they allow you to do illegal moves. i expected to see a cube like shape that contains the original 3x3x3
@ben_adel343718 күн бұрын
well we can't not have illegal moves we're limited by our 3d world so our representation can never work exactly we can't make 4d moves by actually moving the cube in the 4d axis we can only represent it with gyros which changes the colours like we moved in 4th dimension
@kemcolian200116 күн бұрын
you can do illegal moves on 3x3s as well, like corner twists, sticker peeling, or just taking it apart.
@opensocietyenjoyer16 күн бұрын
@@kemcolian2001 that's a dishonest answer. there are cubes that you can neither corner twist on nor remove any stickers. i just don't like a cube that falls apart if i don't do exactly what is in the rule book
