I love this!!! Thank you!!! 😊 Bass has for a long time been my favourite instrument. I love basslines, have made looong lists of favourite basslines. But a week ago, I realised that some of my favourite songs ("On Mercury", "Caravan" and "Find the River" among them!) have a melodica in them and I started making a list. That's how I ended up here. So enjoyable to watch and hear this! And what a great selection! Now I'll list some other songs with melodica that I love. Perhaps you don't even know all of them and have some nice things to discover? Tim Timebomb - Be Yourself Tim Timebomb - Old Friend Malian Musicians, Damon Albarn - Sunset Coming On Augustus Pablo - Bedroom Mazurka (the 2:28 mins version) Friska Viljor - Oh Oh The Magnetic Fields - Swinging London Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood Gorillaz - Tomorrow Comes Today Cornershop - Sleep on the Left Side (is it a melodica?) Peter Doherty - Last of the English Roses The Go! Team - Huddle Formation J-Live: Satisfied (Dub Version) Jack Johnson - If I Could Jack Johnson - No Good with Faces The Melodic - On My Way The Wannadies - Someone Somewhere Sleater-Kinney - A Quarter to Three Tortoise - I Set My Face to the Hillside Tim Timebomb - Let Me Go Embrace - Hey, What You Trying to Say Hochzeitskapelle - If I Think of Love (is it a melodica though?!? If not, it might easily be replaced by one) The Good, The Bad and The Queen - Herculean Calexico - Dub Latina PJ Harvey - Shame Gang of Four - It's Her Factory Not all of them are really great melodica lines, I have to admit. With some of them, the melodica is just a small side note.

'Spot the melodica' is a fun game! I played it a lot when I did research for my video. Ik know some of the songs you listed. And some I didn't. I easter egged some Clint Eastwood lines into my Augustus Pablo bit. By the way, the first three notes in my video are the intro notes from David Bowie's Golden Years. You can list that one also. Cornershop's Sleep on the Left Side sounds definitely like a harmonium (not surprisingly so considering Tjinder Singh's heritage). The melody from If I Think of Love (Hochzeitskapelle) sounds very much like melodica. Although I found some album liner notes in which three band members are credited for harmonium. Melodica not mentioned. But the melody sounds a bit too thin to be harmonium. Have fun discovering more melodica lines in pop music.
@elduuude5 ай бұрын
@@RobvanBerlo Oh, right, indeed, Clint Eastwood in there :D And I have to admit that I did not know the Bowie song at all... A gap that was now filled. Thanks - yes, a harmonium it is then. I sometimes find it difficult. I'm not a musician. I had actually started with making a harmonica list on Spotify. And then I realised that with some of the songs it was a melodica. And I realised that melodica most of the time seems to appeal a little more to me (although I love a lot of songs with harmonica as well). Indeed, it's a fun game, spotting the melodica! I just found another one: Uncle Brian's Abbatoir by Trampolene & Peter Doherty. Well, thank you! And I'll check out some more of your videos soon. And Spotify lists. My several bass lists include more than 500 songs. But I am very sure I will discover more in your lists ;-) I love that (just like me), you cover all kinds of genres and decades. You have a really good overview!
