How to disgust a dog with swimming Otherwise for those who love their dogs. Go there with a progressive pelvis and without a pulling leash. We took 1 hour with floats and now we have a bitch who loves water, without stressing her or disgusting her or torturing her

My dog doesn't even look at the food when we walk, he is really scared and just want to go back home. Considering he is a husky, is really hard to walk with a really strong dog.

This is exactly the case with my 13mo old Amstaff. The neighbor's dog attacked him twice when we moved into our apartment and now my dog is reactive. He is so anxious outside that all he wants to do is poop and drag us back home. He was very chill around dogs before but now even when a dog is 1/2km away he starts pulling towards the dog. I need help. Also my god does NOT care about food when outside. I could give him a bone and he wouldn't care to even look at it.

I appreciate the video it was similar to how I was taught by two professional dog trainers. Although there may be no formalized industry standard for e-collar use for aggressive, this seems to be a common method. I'm glad to see videos like this.

I understand the logic but does that trane the dog that it's OK to eat stuff they find on the ground? Why not keep the treat in your hand+the dog is looking at you n not what district or scared it

Sorry, but this won’t help me/my dog. He’s a 1 y/o boxer. Won’t leave the yard, even with the back gate opened unattended. At the sight of a dog leash he’ll lay down until the leash is out of sight.

It makes no sense to me why any type of correction would be used! If an eight-month-old dog is suspicious of other dogs it's highly likely the so-called 'fear period' where the dog's natural instinctive behavior is to be wary of anything or anyone new to them. The fix is very easy and it doesn't include any collar at all, offlead in a dog park (or running around with a few dogs) just a few times & the dog will work things out without reacting at all.

@tinyflame17
@tinyflame17 7 ай бұрын
@@davidmccoy112the level was too high regardless. The e-collar should be set to the lowest level of consistent response, as in whatever level you can see a visual response in the dog from. The dog should not tense up as a result of the correction, and any shaking of the head is a clear sign of pain. Head shaking, yelping, and any sort of freezing is a sign it is WAY too high. The desired behavior as a result of the introduction to the e-collar should be a simple glance downward towards the collar. Nothing more.

No. Adult dogs teach their young at this age and sometimes earlier. That's the equivalent of not teaching about a 7-8 year old table manners.

Nice! I'd just put a stick on the head with an apple attached to it . But really this doesn't help the dog at all to learn and approve its behavior if its nervous around other dogs.

As soon as my dog sees the dog. I press the button but if I continue to walk toward the dog he still pulls and lunges, so I up the voltage and press the button again to try to distract from the other dog but am I doing this right? I feel like I’m constantly pushing the button. Am I doing this correctly?

I just watched a dog trainer use one and he said don’t use it before as it can trigger the dog to act. As he starts to react then use it. Then take him off to the side to calm him down. He said it’s all about timing.
@JayJay-ki4mi
@JayJay-ki4mi 11 ай бұрын
If after the first press he reacts, issue a command "heel", or "sit". Whichever one you use. When the dog sits, reward with a treat, and then move forward. If the dog does not sit, and is still pulling, turn the opposite direction and walk. If he keeps looking behind, turn again. Why? To make doggy focus on where he's going while you're turning. You want to suppress the reactivity, and if dog still reacts, you want to divert the attention. Please don't keep pressing it, we don't want to hurt our furry friends, and I know you don't want to hurt him too. I understand your frustration, it's hard. But we have to be patient and consistent. I wish you success. Ps. Practice in an open space where other dogs are. Large fields where the other dogs are far enough so doggy doesn't react. Then over time with training get closer. Sometimes other dog walkers will walk past you, and you'll opportunities to train him and get him used to being around other dogs.

This is 1 way of doing it but I wouldn’t say it was the best. Positive reinforcement! Take the dog on the lead up to the sofa and sit down. Put you dog into a sit, stay… as they stay in this position you reward them with praise and treats. When the attempted to jump on the sofa. Say no or off and put them back into a sit and rinse and repeat. As time goes by and they can hold a sit for a few minutes. The reward can be actually jumping up on the sofa but only on your command.

You can teach a young child using fear methods, as the Little Albert experiments in the 1920s. Today, a teacher who deliberately scared a child and then stopped them from getting comfort from a parent would land up in jail. Yes it works, and you will end up with a neurotic adult. Scaring a dog and preventing them from getting away from you is just cruel. It is also unnecessary, as other forms of learning such a simple thing are easy to use and to teach.

My dog is a breeding dog, and I'm a guardian until she retires from having litters. We are not to take her on walks during heat cycles, and she was born during the shutdowns - so I'm having a struggle with overcoming her fear during neighborhood walks. She is so scared - of cars, garbage bins out for weekly pickup, etc. She's fine with other dogs, as well as people, if they are in our yard or home. She does great running around in our fenced in backyard, with or without a leash; she 's just terrified of walking in the neighborhood. Thank you so much for this idea! I can't wait to try it on these cool autumn days.

Haha DF your so right! As a dog behaviorist if you watch 1:08-1:09 you can see the dogs paw is up which means unsure/concern, and she corrects in that moment. This dog could have been helped without the e collar but unfortunately is going to have to live with the e collar on.

All of these videos talk about walking a fearful dog, but none of the dogs are truly fearful. 🥴 The dog is accepting food, which cannot happen if it's truly scared.

My boy just recently started to get scared outside...I'm able to do this at night when no one else is out, and the furthest we've gotten is the yard before I ran out of hot dog pieces 😮‍💨 but during the day he wears a muzzle...it's a Baskerville, he could probably get a treat but it would be difficult for him without me picking it up and putting it through the muzzle...any suggestions? It's breaking my heart, he LOVES being outside! We live close to a stadium and this has been happening since memorial weekend I believe it's firework related
