I have a Nissan Micra k12 giving me trouble when accelerating. It starts kangarooing and no amount of tinkering with the engine could fix this. Changed the spark plugs, both oxygen sensors, air filter, mass air flow sensor, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor. I stopped short of changing the fuel pump because repairs were getting too expensive. I threw my hands in the air and gave up. On our last family trip I was careful when overtaking when my son pointed out that I should stop indicating to let the engine do its job. Imagine my surprise when I found out he was right. Apparently, a blown tail light was causing low voltage in the system and was the root of the issue. So, problems when accelerating can be caused by electrical problems with tail lights. I hope anyone having the same problem might check them out. Safe travels

@@uli169 When the EGR valve is blocked off, it can cause reduced power, increased fuel consumption, a choking sensation in the engine, excessive smoke, jerking, inconsistent starting or even seizure of certain mechanical parts in the long term. The EGR valve contributes to the longevity of your engine. Specifically, the EGR valve helps keep the cylinder valves at a lower temperature, resulting in lower thermal stress and longer life. I am sure that quite a few ignorant people from time to time have taken bad advice from KZbinrs like you and found themselves in trouble sooner or later because they never bothered to check out the facts. I sincerely hope that no person follows your bad advice!

It stops recirculating the exhaust hades into the intake, stopped the carbon build-up. This system is intended for meeting emissions standards but will harm your engine in the long run
@allankingsbury5657
@allankingsbury5657 Жыл бұрын
It causes the engine to run hotter, and this results in a shorter engine life. During maintenance include your EGR System by running a specialist spray cleaner through it to dissolve built up deposits. The EGR valve helps the engine to run cooler. Just do proper maintenance and your engine will be better for it in the long term.

@uli169
@uli169 2 жыл бұрын
Hey man Na, I just blocked off the EGR because I didn't want gunk in my intake. I also didn't adjust anything. If you're looking for more power, I suggest knocking out the catalytic converter. Two bolt from the bottom to loosen and you can do it with a long rod. After that, get a tune. Power jumps from 120kw to around 170kw
@mjhmech4903
@mjhmech4903 2 жыл бұрын
You don't. It's NOT a wastegate it's a VNT actuator. You start playing with it and you will be in a world of hurt soon after. With a decent tune / ECU shop tuner etc and if you feel inclined add a bigger turbo along with +30 or +50 injectors etc you will be more concerned about a lack of traction than any lack of power!👌FYI This engine threw a P0400, P0404, P0406 immediately after this vid. They DO NOT allow you to simply delete the EGR module without either a MAF patch cable or remap.

this is the worst car i bought in my entire life. So much shit on the electrical level is randomly failing. Dies randomly while driving, Power steering shuts off while driving (fucking dangerous) and enables again after standing still for a while. Wipers go from interval to panic mode after one minute which is super annoying. Car is untight so always foggy inside. Airbag light flashing. Passenger seat stuck somehow. Shitload of other error codes on the obd2 scanner. Replaced the battery because it kept draining, so i thought the batt was dead. The hatch of the car is not opening. The passenger door is not opening unless you press the OPEN key multiple times in a row it will open by chance.

Common issues: -Cold start misfire -Crank pulley gets loose and wears crank out if the bolt is installed wrong -Stock radio can give random issues -Tailgate handle breaks Engine is pretty good, remember to use only 5w30 oil in the newer chev, the newer engine has bearings on the tappets vs solid tappets on old shape...needs thinner oil to prevent premature cam wear. Random fact: these cars can run on any ratio of petrol/ethanol

Thanks for the feedback👍 They're like any engine. Maintain them well and they will last. I suggest Googling this engine and seeing what people have to say. I honestly don't know of any engine specific problems they have. As far as I understand, the basis of this engine has been used for ages and the predecessor of it has been used since the 70s so clearly the design is a good one. The thing I like about these engines is that they are extremely simple. You can do all of the work yourself with a few tools. Fuel consumption is good - 12.5km/l about is what people are seeing without a heavy foot. Obviously depends on how you drive, the condition of the engine and what type of driving you do (town Vs highway)

I own a 2013 1.8 Ute. Not the greatest compared to the NP200 on fuel but certainly more powerful and much nicer for open road. It isn’t a race car but if you need to over take on the left, taking a gap isn’t an issue. I average 600km on a tank. I’ve had quite a few little electrical issues (sensors, lights, radio, cluster). The engines are strong but the power steering system leaks whether you like it or not. I use it as a private and work vehicle. With 700kg in the back handling is drastically effected but you don’t need to hammer it to get to 120. It’ll cruise up and down hills loaded in 5th without too much fuss It certainly is a lot nicer to drive than the NP200 but doesn’t feel as solid as the NP. I don’t recommend towing. They do have a trailer function built in but avoid towing if you can. In summary, it is a bit more thirsty than the 1.4 but the power rewards you. Not as solid as an NP200 but certainly better to drive. My current mileage is 113 000km
