if there is a god then he should demand (via the pope) that every media channel (tv, radio, online, public restrooms, airports, movie theaters, future stuff we haven't thought of yet, but 'he' has certainly thought of including etc stuff) must have a 24/7 MP broadcasting channel.... amen....

So incredibly grateful to my brother and older cousin for playing this over and over when I was too young to even get most of it. Splendid.

One of the most bizarre and craziest but also creative sketches by Monty Python I could only find on this record: First World War Noises. Both intertwined sketches play perfectly with the fact that you can only hear, not see the sketch. Mr. Paslow's head, the dead girl, the ugly wife (picture) and the ... beautiful dog (picture). Infinitely hilarious to me.

05:55: The "Old Comrades"-March is in fact a German march, written by Carl Teike. The original title is Alte Kameraden. When bringing his newly composed march to the regiment, the Kapellmeister Oelte simply told him: "We've got plenty enough of musical marches, put this one in the stove!"

I literally just that very minute bought this on vinyl. I HAVE to own it, or I'm going to wear youtube out with too many listens 😂

HYaving been in he Canadian military, I'd hate to have marched to those tunes. Way too fast. Canada/USA march tempo is 120 per minute. Germany - 100/minute.

Thanks a lot for posting this. It is only a pity that the recording is so old that it doesn't capture one of the best Spanish military marches, Ganando Barlovento, my Ramón Sáez de Adana Lauzurica.

Thanks for sharing. I had this album and indeed the double grove on side two was a surprise when I first bought it. I noticed sadly that your recording jumped tracks at 25:38 - 25:44 which to the average person might not even notice. If you have this album still it would be nice to have both re recorded. Again thanks for sharing

Big selection even if the national identity is mixed up - under USA marches, for instance, "Under The Double Eagle" by Wagner, as its name suggests, is an Austro-Hungarian march. Similarly, "Entry of the Gladiators", an old chestnut, is by Fucik.
