When I was 11 years old, I was a confirmed "Germanophile" I had this very record, I had ordered through a catalog (No internet obviously) I drove my sisters and parents crazy playing this album over and over again.

@@aigleroyal3941 I can't speak for my parents and sisters, but I studied the German language, as well as reading every book I could get my hands concerning German history, from the medieval period right up the formation of the Democratic Republic of Germany. I visited southern Germany twice. I still remain a Germanophile to this day.

My Mom was German and we 11 kids were German- Irish. She didn't like that we "celebrated our Irish heritage", so she bought German music tapes to play in the car. We had to listen to it when we rode with her. NONE of us understood German, but that didn't deter her. I notice some of the marches were "Sousa-esque".

I had this album as a teenager, more than sixty years ago. The Norddeutscher March Band was better than most postwar ensembles, which usually paled by comparison with Third Reich performers, because spirit was missing from the Bundeswehr shills of the occupation Allies. Anyway, a nice surprise, seeing and hearing this old Somerset album.
@toddholmes44803 жыл бұрын
Heh dude! At least I wasn't the only teenager who would rather listen to this, as opposed to Black Sabbath, or Jethro Tull! Too bad they didn't have social back then, we could have been "Kameraden".

Is it just me or are the names severly off? 3 isn't the Petersburger Marsch but instead the Pariser Einzugsmarsch and 4 isn't the Pariser Einzugsmarsch? Something is off there i think. Edit: I think i solved it! You can se the correct listing on the picture shown. You just have to remove Petersburger Marsch.

WWI was not started by gobalists and stock brokers...it was the inevitable conclusion of imperialism. Bismark is credited as saying, "Europe today is a powder keg and the leaders are like men smoking in an arsenal … A single spark will set off an explosion that will consume us all … I cannot tell you when that explosion will occur, but I can tell you where … Some damned foolish thing in the Balkans will set it off." Why do the songs sound so happy...because patriots believe they are fighting for God, country, family, and friend...and are celebrating the privilege to defend their way of life. Bismark also said, "anyone who has once looked into the glassy eyes of a dying warrior on the battle-field would think twice before beginning a war."
