Spare a thought to the geniuses who organize those assembly lines, the logistics of getting all that material and components and people to the exact place on time and to the correct quality is mind blowing.

Bellissimo video sulle Citroën GS e GSA. Auto comode e avanti col tempo. Una GSA sarebbe moderna anche oggi.

Fake.

Great and innovative car. These ads make me want to go out and buy one. I actually remember some of these ads from my childhood. Especially the one with the barrels on the road. That was shown in Switzerland.

The GSX had a 55hp 1 litre engine, less than what you would get in the slowest car you could buy today. I think the ad was slightly misleading: it does not turn you into Jacky Ickx.

I'm 64 grew up in San Diego I remember as a kid Dad had a bitchen 58 black Impala SS convertible Mom had a new 62 Buick Skylark neither one even had seatbelts let alone airbags and keep in mind there were NO emission controls back then yet. Back then driving the family car was like driving an extension of your livingroom around. Just a dumb story.

I loved these cars This was my first car I had to work on it myself it was quite a technical car I had about 10 before I got fed up with them I never ever gave a thought in to how they were made They rusted quite well The engine use to go through camshafts as there was poor circulation of oil Apart from that it was a great car

I have owned a 2CV, GSA, BX, XM and my dad owned 2CV, BX too and CX, all this cars are relaible and great to drive. Its a shame that citreon doesn´t make cars like this anymore. My dream cars are still DS, CX, XM and C6. Maybe I`ll get a C6 someday, who knows. :)

Considering the other contemporary cars... there was not one to lift the other. But it's really around 1972/73 that it got really bad, for everyone, we're talking about recycled scrap metal of marine origin.

Pretty lie about safety….roads are the same in 2021 but crash test in the 70’s were very different lol We can see how the sm totally collapse into crash test; very scary. These are not independent test. The only great thing: suspension safety 👍🏽
@citrovideorevient130
@citrovideorevient130 Жыл бұрын
No lies (except for the accelerated images of the dynamic tests^^). As far as crash tests are concerned, we can obviously only compare tests that are identically organized. A SM has no reason to do worse than a car that is contemporary to it, and that's all we ask. The impressive deformations are what they are... an absorption of energy, the only thing is to master these deformations as well as possible, that's the (almost perpetual) goal of this kind of research, and it's much more desirable than older vehicles that are clearly too rigid and that keep a look confirming their prejudged robustness... and which in fact kill all their occupants of internal lesions because of the too brutal deceleration at the time of a shock... assuming that the passengers have their seatbelt, which is very rare if not never the case, after all in these not so distant times one dies also much ejected from the car or of a simple fatal cranial shock in the car... and not needing a big shock nor of high speed

I really love all variants of the 2CV...but, I fully accept that secondary safety is more-or-less forgone - like on a motorcycle.

The idea old Citroens were ever safe is a total laugh. I drove the 2CV & it practically leant onto its door handles in a corner. My sister had a minor bump in one, where there was hardly a mark on the other car (a Cortina) whilst the 2CV's entire front wheel was hanging off. My aunt had a DS which had a switch for the brake, so it was either full on or full off, with no modulation, and which once failed. And it too leant over & understeered more than most in a corner.
@citrovideorevient130
@citrovideorevient130 Жыл бұрын
these cars were completely in tune with their time. The 2cv has a lot more engineering than its apparent rusticity suggests. The platform is not just made any old way. Of course, there is no question of comparing these cars with what will be done later, especially from the 80s on. Concerning the 2cv, a test from the 70's which I don't remember the origin, had made equivalent crash tests between a 2cv, a vw and a Fiat... 126 I think... the 2cv has nothing ridiculous then. That the owners maintain their vehicles badly or that the repairers are incompetent is another problem... concerning the DS, if it was impossible to dose the braking very finely it is thus that there was a real problem, most certainly of bleeding of the brake circuits. The rest is caricature, if not preconceived ideas... or comments from people who are not used to this control with just a force to apply.
