Looks like one of those tannin stained creeks that are so common up on the U.P. You did a nice job in those challenging conditions Jared. Nothing beats a nice native brookie!

There are some decent sized Musky to be had in Lake Monona. I used to see them chasing smaller fish near the Yahara River inlet and outlet in the spring. During warmer weather they move to the deeper weed lines.

@@tenkaragenki Yes it was. Living in South Africa means access to Tenkara Rods is more of a mission. Especially spare parts if you break one... Jealous of the ease of access to great Tenkara rods in the US.. I am Having fun ordering "Tenkara" rods from TEMU... The 6 foot version I ordered is great...11 foot Goture, not so great... Very stiff and the tip section pulled out of the rod. I have ordered a 9 foot and 11 foot from another manufacturer through Temu, they look promising...I am currently fishing a 12 foot Nissin Kawashi 36 and it is truly excellent. I have had it for 12 years... Last week I fished a small stream here and landed 6 smallmouth bass. It was super fun. Stay warm.

The vegetation in this part of WI is pretty lush, but it's not always just weeds. It can be yellow parsnip! The fish are always worth dodging the parsnip for Tom! 😁Thanks!

At 4:09 you pick up saying something about you could sit there for an hour. You saying that a pool like that could be fished for an extended period of time before moving on? I've never been trout fishing but am about to start. Appreciate all the great content you trouters share.

@@scottpfeifer7782 yep, exactly! You could set up a lawn chair and cast all day if you wanted to. Put on a nymph and fish it below the surface all day lol I personally like to move and fish at a good pace. Usually I cast a couple of good times and move on. I find that a hungry trout will show themselves pretty quickly. Thanks for watching Scott!

@@cblemon0329 I believe it is the Shimotsuke Fluorescent Green Tenkara Level Line from DRAGONtail. Someone gave me a small leftover spool on it and it came in handy! 3.0 btw, works great!

I only have a Nissin Professional Kawashi 360 Tenkara rod, so use that. I live in Cape Town, which is often windy. I find that the Tenkara is much better in the wind than a conventional fly rod...

The wind dictates moving to a heavier line so I grab whatever shorter, faster rod will be better matched to that line. Honestly, the thing I hate most about strong wind is that it completely destroys my GoPro audio (just can't find a good mitigator). I just love it when those big browns are hungry enough to give up their hiding places and dart out of the underwater/creekside vegetation. Nice work Jared!

@@Bradley-bm1ou thanks! Well I had the Kokoro, Mizuchi, and the Ragnarok on me. So I went for length and stiffer but responsive rod for the clear creek n windy conditions. The Kokoro would have been too soft w the wind and the Miz a lil shorter than the Rag.

I admit that I use Brent’s warbird on my very first fish on my Kokoro and immediately knew it was too heavy for that rod. Interesting choice going tungsten. How did that feel?

@@wilsonallen7831 I use thick wool socks, wool long underwear, and waders. Frogtoggs has some good affordable waders fyi. For upper I use wool top, coat and then a rain shell to stop wind and water. This looks like a creek that runs into the Mississippi? I used to fish several in the driftless area when I lived between Seneca/Lynxville/Ferryville. It was before I discovered Tenkara fishing and I need to get back to enjoy that area. 👍
