!!! ...I can hardly believe this video is posted as a Rennsport Reunion! I knew instantly being its my home track, but idling under the start-finish bridge sign it's very clear... Laguna Seca👍🏽🇺🇸

I'm sorry, with further information I've found it is posted as Laguna Seca. I couldn't read the whole post from my iPhone screen... caution to the future of my comments!!!

That thing on the windscreen isnt a wiper. Its an overpass to allow spectators to get from one side of the car to the other.

My brother raced a lotus 23 back in the 70s. He had good battles with the chevron b8 as it was the same engine. (Both 2valve/cyl engines) The B16 was a higher class 4valve/cyl engine much more power. So I’m guessing the b8 running in this video has a 16valve engine in it

That chevron b8 ahead of it must have a 16valve engine in it also.

My brother raced his lotus 23b with a chevron b16 back in the 70s, both were cosworth engines but the lotus was a 1600cc two valve/cyl engine and the chevron was 2liter 4valve/cyl engine. Different class obviously. Under braking and cornering my brother was actually a bit faster than the chevron. Only 1000lb car and it was modified to run the big fat racing slicks that formula Atlantic cars ran. But come the straight, man that chevron moved!

1970 or 1971 are probably my favorite years for innovation, competitors do anything to gain even the slightest advantage, the Porsche 917 being the #1 most innovative obviously, some might yell at me for this but I would say #2 is the Matra simca ms670 longtail with its iconic pontoon rear

Very cool. I sat in this car as a kid when Gerry owned it! At Watkins Glen around 1978.

You got one spot on the track to pass only if you're on the rear of the car ahead... totally dangerous..i notice morons on the hiway drive this way..too bad their not professional drivers

This track is probably too tight but you can still see and hear the raw power of this classic racing machine. Timeless.

Fantastic to see these cars out there and real video of them racing. More of it please. un-mistakable engine noise (music).

I like the old course where you could fly over the hump into a fast left hander up to the bridge. This new course stinks.

Laguna Seca is too short and tight for these monsters. Andrew, our driver, is stymied by amateurs in the cars ahead. But even so, we are given an insight into a motorsport experience that prompted Steve McQueen to put his production company on the line. This era of racing asks for no quarter and gives none. The stakes could not be higher - a mistake could be fatal. The power of these cars was unheard of. Only a handful of the very best drivers were willing to be put to the ultimate test. Because they were racers and could not say no.

Agreed. I counted a 1:37. My PB is 1:44 in my 2001 Boxster S. And I'm not that fast a driver. Still. Must be a challenge with these beasts. Cheers

Thanks! Took me back to my youth, racing in A Production in the 60s and 70s, first in a 427 Cobra, later an L-88 Corvette. Loved watching it get a little loose in some of the tighter turns, right on the edge. That us what the cars were built for! Too bad you can't feel the g forces in the curves and on acceleration.

Note the 1970 braking points. Instead of the driver feeling 4 G’s, you can almost hear him screaming woooooe baby.

basically an endurance vehicle not particularly suited to this type of circuit. so it's painful to watch it being throttled down.
