The opening comment is hilarious because shooting so far away the front sight covers the target (the black of the bullseye) is exactly what I've been taught, to make matters worse, we did it one-handed, slow fire, 5 in 20 seconds and 5 in 10 seconds. When I shot the qualifications for action shooting I aimed at the "A", not the A zone, the "A" letter. Sure I should work on speed but keeping high accuracy standards is what gives me confidence in a firearm and myself.

I’ve carried both a DA/SA and a striker … I shoot both equally well , but there’s no denying DA/SA offer certain advantages but they also require more trigger time to fully master both equally

I teach managing the trigger the same way DA or SA. Its not as complicated as the 1911/striker crowd suggests. Think of it like a manual transmission of pistols

But doesn’t that go against the idea that you shouldn’t be focusing on the dot? Should be focusing a spot on the target not the dot itself and we’ve been seeing a lot push the occluded dot to hammer this in.

And by the way Steven...there is a time to visually focus on the target...and a time to visually focus on the dot. It depends. I think I have a video on that too.
@Whiskey.Tango.Actual

@@suareztacticsthere's literally never a time to focus on the dot or front sight. It's completely unnecessary. Simple truth verified by optometry and lens physics. It's an unpopular opinion but to all the haters, go shoot a 50 yd target and be target focused. You'll still print the same group as if you're front sight focused as long as your sight alignment is good, even if it's blurry. This definitely applies to the dot too. Also applies to magnified optics with correct parallax. Always look at the target. :)

I disagree with you completely. I started this entire concept of EDC CCW dots milled into Glock slides in 2009. The visual focus varies depending on the problem. Gunfighting and gunsport are not the same@@Whiskey.Tango.Actual

Nice insightful presentation. Many good valid points discussed. I have carried a PPK for years in 32 acp. For defensive purposes, I don't feel under gunned in the least by it. Extremely easy to consistently keep rounds on target with it. The recoil is a little more than a 22. I've opted to use 73 grain fmj S&B ammo.

I felt the same way. CZ should have cut this off at the pass, and Chris should have suspected any add-on, especially anything he added to the slide. Adding something to the slide is not likely to improve reliability. FREEDOM GORILLA recommended their short screws when I bought my green dot for the P09 c. Obviously there are folks out there who are aware of the issue. In the meantime folks are looking at the gun expecting mayhem. One reviewer experienced repeated lockbacks because he kept hitting the slide release on recoil. He concluded that the gun was flawed. Anyway, My P09 with the 8 or 9mm M4 screws securing my optic, runs reliably all day long. In my brief experience, it's a great shooting, accurate poly DA/SA that is optics ready....all for about $500. Of course, I might have gotten the only good one ever made. :)

Didn't say he didn't, nor did I accuse him of anything. But as far as me, if a company sent me a sample to test, I would do just that and if it was not right, I'd reach out to them first and get it right. I would not do a positive video on a shitty product (as so many influencers do), nor would I shit on a product that was given to me to review without giving the maker a chance to make it right. There is enough back stabbing, plagiarism, and determined skullduggery in this industry with me adding to it.

Aloha Gabe! I have been following you from the beginning brother. You have ALWAYS been at the forefront of changes from: "Getting off the X", red dots, AKs, long-range pistol marksman ship, and now the return to SA/DA. I have always hated striker fired pistols because of the danger in re-holstering, especially when carrying concealed (i.e. not a hard-sided duty holster). Glad to see this pistol from CZ - and praying for Sig-Sauer to come out with a SA/DA pistol with optics without a proprietary optic footprint for their shitty Romeo sights.

Thanks for putting this together. The issue you're describing is exactly what was wrong with my Springfield Prodigy. I just got it back from Springfield Armory. Everything is a training issue when it comes to safety. The first heavy trigger pull on a DA/SA is going to be a wild shot every time unless cops put in the time with DA/SA guns. Two trigger pulls can mastered. But if you exhibit safe gun handling with a glock what is the point of going to a DA first shot, mastering the transition on a new platform when you have already spent decades mastering a striker firing pistol. I doubt too many departments will go that direction. They have had alloy 226’s and 229’s to choose from for years. Now with short reset triggers. The went to Glock. Including tier one military units, sof units, All the 3 letter agencies and secret service. They are never going back. We as individuals might. For the reasons you stated.

The P-09C Nocturne is a fantastic pistol. I have 2500 plus rds through it. I’ve put the CGW trigger in it and have done a couple things like remove rear irons and shave down front to lesson cowitness using the notches on EPS Carry instead. Anyhow, I love the pistol. I did have to swap out the decocker for the safety. I experienced an uncommon issue that some w the old P-07 experience were the left side decocker pops out just a tiny little bit rendering pistol inoperable. This happened like 7 times w my carry ammo while dumping mags. No big deal. I carry the Shadow 2 Compact half cocked safety off, so I could carry less besides, theirs is a fix, but I didn’t feel like even going through the paces. Like said it’s not very common I guess. I learned about it through a Google search and saw something on Reddit where Cajun Gun Works had a fix for it. This is absolutely no BS. I love this pistol and love sa sa/da. I am not a fan of Glock or strike fired guns much at all so yeah. It’s cool CZ gives you the safety along with the postil, so it was there, and took like 30 seconds to change. Cool video. God Bless

I have a P-07 milled for a Holosun 507 by Vulcan Machine Werks. They were adamant that the optic had to be milled far back on the slide with the screws are behind the firing pin retainer pin. With that cut the screws didn't interfere with any of the internal parts, and the rear iron sight was placed forward of the optic. I'm planning on purchasing the P-09 Nocturne, and I'll probably shave down the right side screw a nose hair to ensure reliability.
