Nothing too major...you'd end up getting small amounts of dust and fluff coming into the room when the fan isn't on...

I'm planing to do a simual job the one thing I'll definitly say is to not use spray paint for this the thicker the paint the less it bleeds and spray paint is basically the thinest you'll find also oil / varnish the face first that way the paint won't bleed under the tape, just make sure you tape can stick to the finish good to see it came up good

Love the tiles, but why are the bidet and toilet in separate rooms?
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder 11 күн бұрын
It's all one big room now, but there's a privacy wall for the toilet. We couldn't get the bidet closer to the toilet, but in our family it's often used more to foot-washing and leg shaving than anything else!

I reckon that’s gonna leak. Should be on at least 22mm ply and bedding in, plus that sealer from Amazon is not gonna provide a tight seal.

Marking out and determining your bird's mouth position, take a measurement from the top of your ridge, to the outside of your wall plate. Transfer this measurement onto your rafter, note, the measurement is placed on the rafter from where the longest point of the top plumb cut will eventually be, across the rafter to where it corresponds (meets) the bird's mouth depth cut. The outside of your wall plate corresponds with the inside corner of your wall plate marked on your rafter. Mark your plumb cut. At the top mark your plumb cut, this works spot on every time. Also works equally well on hip rafters. A great channel, thank you. Subbed n liked.👍

These are great nailers. The Dewalt uses a flywheel type hammer that’s what the whirring noise is. Spins the flywheel. These use an actuator that pull the trigger back and uses a small pressurised tank on the back which assists. You can also top up the flywheel he charge on the tank.

Bathroom is looking brilliant👌🏻 Are you going to put an isolation valve on the cold feed for the toilet when you replace the flexi? What about a chrome pipe cover to finish it off?

That dry ridge system is a pain. To help that roll stick since its bitumen is to heat it up a little get it real tacky then it will stick better. Same with the front apron of the Velux flashing kit. Notorious if flapping up in the wind.

Great job. Interesting how the engineers only asked to use those lag bolts with the chemfix and not studs with nuts. They normally ask for high tensile rod and nuts. Sure it ain’t moving anyway!

What sort of fall/slope angle do you use on the flat roof?
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder 26 күн бұрын
The minimum fall is a 1:80 ratio (0.72°). Having it slightly more than that is probably better to ensure no water pools/collects anywhere by accident. Often you don't need to worry about it too much though, because you can buy firring strips that have the right fall built into them.

Chipboard under a toilet with all that damp not a good idea

Lol! If there's "all that damp" under the toilet, I have bigger problems than just the 22mm riser piece! All the water stays in the bowl or the pipes!

You didn't need wood for the height you should of used an offset pan connector.
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder Ай бұрын
No, an offset pan connector is not designed to work if the toilet is lower than the waste pipe; it's primarily intended to address situations where the toilet is slightly off-center to the waste pipe, not lower in height, and using it when the toilet is lower can lead to potential blockages due to the created uphill flow of waste water.
@zedman442
@zedman442 28 күн бұрын
@@OfficeBoyBuilderit can actually be used it’s just not ideal. You just lose some of the full use of the 4” pipe and you might get the odd blockage. Some would say that is better to use rather than lifting a toilet with chipboard which can swell and degrade. You get away with this toilet as it’s a nice looking pan 😊
@philddriver
@philddriver Ай бұрын
That was always going to leak. You need to have a pan connector on the toilet. The water can still get past spigot and will leak
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder Ай бұрын
I did exactly that after, I just forgot to film it! 🤦 I was under serious pressure to get it finished up because we had family coming over, but thankfully I had a pan connector to put on it too.

Nice video buddy, re door into garage, did u have any security/locking added? Out of interest, what were building control like with the doors, were they super hot of looking them over or did they just have a quick look around
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder Ай бұрын
I put a pretty chunky 5 lever mortice deadlock on it, one that has a key hole on the garage side, and a twist latch on the utility room side. The building inspector was more interested in confirming that it was a 30 minute fire door with the intumescent strips in the frame, with the barrel hinges that auto close. After he had seen those aspects, he was satisfied and didn't press any further.

Hey man. Your bathroom looks like mine. Only a bath and a toilet. I was wondering... Is a water barrier under the lvt not necessary ? I have kids and splashing water will be a thing. I was thinking of waterproof lining (kerdi) under the lvt.
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder Ай бұрын
Definitely worth considering. Our kids are older now, and so the strength and waterproof nature of the tongue and groove chipboard was sufficient. Kerdi is a fantastic product, but you'll need a very strong backer behind it, as it isn't structurally sound, which might raise your levels.
@henrietn
@henrietn Ай бұрын
@OfficeBoyBuilder yeah. My flooring upstairs is concrete, which I will level with self leveler before. I know the base of the lvp does not need a underlay in general, but a bathroom is something special of course. I would either lvp and search for a solution. My other idea would be vinyl tiles that you need to glue, and the kerdi could be integrated within the glue setting.

Nice video, but unless i'm mistaken you didn't leave an expansion gap to allow for any movement. Being a bathroom with the fluctuations in humidity I reckon you'll have problems here.
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder Ай бұрын
You need an 8mm if it's over 100m2 area, and 5mm if it's under that. I left that size of gap along the wall side where it's hidden beneath the skirting board but forgot to show it/talk about it in the video...! Interestingly the loose lay Karndean product recommends NOT leaving an expansion gap.

Great job. Thanks for sharing. Question, do the plywood sheets warp and bow with time? If so, how do you get around that?
@OfficeBoyBuilder
@OfficeBoyBuilder Ай бұрын
Plywood is incredibly stable, especially when it's over 9mm thick. Being glued and tacked to the wall, it is highly unlikely to warp/bow, unless it was becoming consistently wet or absorbing moisture.
