Why Cartago? It sounds more like nordic sounds than african sounds (ancient Cartago was in north africa)
@SilenceOtherSounds11 күн бұрын
@@littlemouse7066 there's a mixture a drums from many cultures. The inspiration came from the Punic Wars between Rome and Cartago, where Hannibal employed war elephants. The picture of these massive elephants stomping on the battle field inspired the idea of the kind of sound we wanted to achieve.

Just a bit of a correction, the tlapitzali is not even close to being an andean instrument (idk if this is what you meant by andine) as mesoamerica and the andes are 4000 km apart so the musical instruments are not all the same. Also idk if you have renamed the moche horn as an “aztec horn”, but if it really is from the moche culture then it is most certainly andean and not aztec in any way. Nowadays lots of people with not a lot of knowledge of geography and history treat the incas and aztecs as though they are not only the same thing, but that they are the only indigenous thing as far as anything below native americans of the US go. So it is good to keep in mind where the differences lie, and that by making connections between the two its more like putting a huge hispanic link since this is the only historical tie that has ever existed with the two regions in their history
@SilenceOtherSounds12 күн бұрын
This is a very appreciated comment, thanks. Are you referring to the Aztec War Trumpet instrument? I'm asking as it features both Moche trumpets as others which I believe where proper of the Aztecs (the samples belong to a folder called Moche-Tiger Trumpets).
@Someone4535612 күн бұрын
@ I meant about the moche trumpet and the whole thing with relating them to the aztecs, since the moche culture was nowhere near mesoamerica (so I’m saying mainly that it makes no sense to call the moche trumpet as a “aztec trumpet” as what the 15 original fx section thing says especially since it doesn’t show up as its own thing that’s why I assumed it was placed alongside other trumpets like it). Also if you ever do proper south american horns, there are a lot of really cool ones that have never been sampled before. The Clarin Cajamarquino (there are two types, roncador which does atonal or one note, and the walaycho that can actually play melodies). The mapuche have two horn instruments that are similar to the clarin cajamarquino called the trutruka and the ñolkin, both of which are atonal though they are mainly different in shape. In the andes there is also another horn instrument called the waqra puku which is also just as similar like the previous ones. Then there is the argentinian Erke which is really really huge. There is even an oboe/shawm instrument in the andes called the chirisuya played just as atonally. Lastly often times in the andes horns like these can even be replaced with valveless trumpets. All these are very interesting instruments and none have been sampled unfortunately, and I think for a series like maleventum they would be interesting additions.

Hi! Do I get it right - with this instrument I can ONLY combine pre-recorded movements, there's no single notes/legatos? So I cannot create my own movement/melody, just combine the existing ones? UPD ok I see you already answered it in other comment. Too bad there's no such option... Still - it sounds good, and the lack of separate notes is a deal breaker for me but I'm sure the library will be useful for many people, so best of luck to you with your product!
@SilenceOtherSoundsАй бұрын
@@nettlecarrier8259 thanks a lot! a bit of context about our sampling choice if you don't mind: we opted for prerecorded movements and not single notes because of the original instrument itself, which is more suitable for rhythmic melodies than typical legatos like violin and cello. You still have legato in Nordic Folk Strings, but it's a rhythmic one because instead of long sustained notes you have rhythmic individual notes that you can combine 🙂

Finally picked up Maleventum Pompeii and downloaded it. Following along with the video, I notice that the soft release sliders don’t have any effect on the volume of the release as the manual says. Any help would be appreciated. This will help me shape the sound better as some of the releases are louder than others. Thanks
