Great song, classic, JCC has no right to sound this good. Watched many covers and his is the best. Video enhances the eerie supernatural effect. Reminds me Johnny Cash, deadpan delivery but gritty and heartfelt. Legend

Richard Harris is constantly turning in his grave thanks to this, and i’m a fan of JCC
Fun cover, and I love the punkified B-section. And that Jethro Tull extended bridge is not fake Tull. It's the real deal: Ian Anderson played the flute solo.

is this meant to be ironic? it's such a cheesy tune.

This is utterly astonishing! That he is a genius poet is unquestionable - but Christ, he can sing as well....

Richard, totally agree with you, JCC has no right to sound this good. Watched many covers and he is the best. Video just enhances the eerie experience. Reminds me of Johnny Cash, deadpan delivery but haunting and mesmerising. Legend

This wasn't as crappy as I expected it to be. Not too bad, actually. Lapses into Manc on occasion, but that's OK. JCC obviously respects the song-writing chops of Jimmy Webb. Do Bo-Rhap next!

It is a small world. I was a *huge* Stranglers fan and saw them at least 10x in Holland and once in Germany. I have all the Stranglers Magazins. Always chatting with Dave Greenfield (RIP) after the gig. And my favorite 'aunt' became the mother-in-law of John's cousin Dennis Sydney. I also met his other cousin Frank. I saw many pictures of the eighties. Syd's children Oak and Arun sitting next to John. Hope to see Hugh again in Amsterdam sometime. His guitar style is unique 🖤

A couple of days ago I finished Phil Knight's excellent book about The Stranglers, Strangled (Zero Books) and then I immediately jumped right into JCC's beautiful memoir, I Wanna Be Yours ...and then, right now, this clip magically pops up on the side-bar thing of my youtube doover. If that's not planets aligning, I dunno what is.
