I remember stumbling upon this little village 25-30 years ago after going into outline gym to find out how much it cost. I entered from the main road on the other side and came out in the village and was blown away that even though i lived in stockport i never knew of this beautiful little shopping centre. Amazing how quick it turns to sh.... It's the end of an era i guess as shops and shopping centres die at the hands of big corporations (morrisons etc) and online shopping.

Great video. About 20 yrs ago I took a photo of a small stone cherub on the left as you walked up the path into the graveyard next to the footpath. After developing the photo in the darkroom an image of an old ladies face is clearly seen next to the cherub.

Not many steeplejacka at the age of 66 (when Fred passed), had a net worth of 1 million pounds in 2004, which would be the equivalent of 1.9 million pounds today. Add to that he was awarded 2 honorary doctorates from 2 universities, and as such he was entitled to be addressed as Dr. Fred Dibnah ( which is on the plaque outside the house which he basically rebuilt). I could go on and on, citing his incredible achievements. Sadly his life was cut short by cancer, but he sure accomplished a lot in his life. And thanks to all the video recordings, left us a legacy, which we can all appreciate and remember him by. R.I.P. Fred, you led a truly remarkable life.

Great video, be nice to see an updated video on where the project is at now. The mill engine is stunning the youth of today have no idea what previous generations had to endure. I only moved to Golborne 3 years ago and had no idea the mill was there even though I must have driven past it a hundred times. Brilliant 👌

The artwork, created by artist William Mitchell who was known for creating concrete sculptures, has sat in Eastford Square in Collyhurst, since the 1960s, but following a vote in 2017, Manchester City Council are in the process of moving the sculpture to the verge of the carpark between Roach and Vauxhall courts.

As a welder for the last 26 years, I have been able to get in plants and see the “inner workings “ of how things work. I was able to be exposed to old engines through my father’s interest in them. I can see why Fred loved them. I found all his videos about 5 years ago and fell in love with Fred, like many others. What a terrible loss of knowledge when he passed. My father was a wealth of knowledge and when he passed, like Fred, the world lost volumes of knowledge that will never be recovered. Very well done video. Much love from North Carolina, USA🤙🤙

OMG how sad to see 😢 born in 1961 Middle of 3 Girls, I lived on pink bank Lane facing Jacksons Brick Yard. My life was tough! but Bell Veu for me was Magic on my doorstep, only if we made it in Bell Veu back entrance. That's without having our ears pulled by the guard as he walked us out the gate. I was about 8/9 Y/O when I was stood watching the Gorillas, I now know this was a male silver back I was looking at. He turned and look at me right into my eye's, I don't know why but he reach my soul that day. That led me onto a respect for anything animal/wildlife etc, if it has a heart ❤ beat it has a life. I've spent many shillings at the dogs and won a few quid to on a good night, so guys I'm 63 this Nov and this is sad 😥 for me to see the end of my happy place as a kid. As I sit and watch our lovely 🇬🇧 being pulled apart by ?? Who, the minority. So I'll sit and wait for 26th October because I'm to poorly with disabilities, but I know so many of us feel exactly 💯 the same way now. Enough is Enough time for us now not No10 arse wipes, to take back what is our this small island when you look at us. But we the British people know we had a big heart, but some people shouldn't be around us and we're all clueless who are you?? So next door to you now isn't always someone you'd turn to for help, thank 🙏 you for my final visit to the Dogs. Much Love from Tricia xx ❤ 🤔🥺😔
