Wow. Im pretty local, and had no idea this place looked like this now, i had heard it was being pulled down a while ago but thought it was a rumour. Im a singer and dj, Ive done a few gigs in there. Was a really nice venue, also,... when you were on the balcony ...i did sit on there and had a pint in the sun just like you said! Was lovely. Shame its soon to be all gone. Great video guys.

The bridge probably has that name because the rail line that ran underneath it went into Black Harry tunnel slightly north of it. The rail line ran to Clifton Hall Colliery and in 1953 the tunnel collapsed and a house on temple drive, Swinton fell into it killing 5 people. Visit temple drive and you'll notice a house missing, if you also look at the low wall outside Victoria park, you'll notice it sags down where the bus stop is. Opposite the bus stop, part of the road fell in and the old hall/building was condemned because of subsidence, all because of the tunnel that's still underground. They pulled the building down and built house on the site!

What a shame, I practically spent my childhood on there, i used to work with the greenkeepers in the school summer holidays, head greenkeeper was a polish man his name was Robert Jinovski. I used to go in those ponds and find golf balls by the hundred, i used to sell em to buy fags lol! This was in the late 60s early 70s. I knew loads of members and in that time there were 2 club professionals Allan Gillies and big Jim Wilson, my older brother was junior assistant professional Paul Vasey. We lived on the other side of the course on Ellesmere park near the school of the same name, it changed to Wentworth High in the late 70s. It is so sad to see that great place abandoned like that, i even recognise where the holes used to be, i used to go in that tractor shed for my lunch with the greenkeepers, i used to get paid a shilling an hour for pullin me tripe out! Nice one bro for this walkabout it has brought back some great memories.

Not the only golf club to go. Brackley golf course, Little Hulton was sold to a developer for 40 million. Building a massive amount of houses on there. And they are building a new school where your old school was to accommodate the extra kids that will move into the houses. We'll have no greenery at all soon. 😡

Our house ( mum n dad's) backed onto the golf course on Runnymeade. Spent our yoof caddying on the golf course, Christ I hate golf! Loads of memories of grabbing golf balls down on the brook and selling them back to the golfers. Hiding in the changing rooms for a laugh...getting newts from the pond in the middle. Spent our childhood on the gollies, eating rhubarb, blackberries, apples...anything to keep us going through the day. Shouting ' Four!' for a laugh when they tee'd off. I'm now 57...so much to remember and laugh about...might struggle building houses due to the mines, brooks running underneath.

Quite surprised when saw it just on, as decided to come on as an avid follower as you know. You were very hot ! - Should nipped for a brew. Enjoy each and every one of your explores as always. Jay.

Bloody hell Clarky I went grosvenor Road too for a couple a years back in 78-79...and I used to caddy for a couple a quid (slave labour lol) every weekend or school holiday as I was growing up on Swinton Park. But the biggest memory you've brought back was the old subway at the top of Manor Road leading to the slagheaps up vicky Park way which I was discussing strangley enough with me mate last week about the rats being in the rafters (or so my older cousins told me to scare me, the nasty bastids lol) Love these blasts from the past and usually know most of them as your always foraging up my way in Bolton.
