Where did you find the PNG of that line?
@ArchbardWava2 жыл бұрын
You can make it by using a Gradient Tool with a Color Ramp. It's even better this way, since you can tweak it easier than if you were using an image.

how do you get the sterak to attach directly to the curve? I have the curve modifier on the streak but when i turn it on my streak object is no where near on the actual line
@GrahamWiebe2 жыл бұрын
You need to make sure the curve pivot is near the streak pivot. I generally only move the curve in edit mode to keep things easy
@lordnaps2 жыл бұрын
@@GrahamWiebe gotcha, what do you mean by the pivot?

when i use the displace modifier, it doesn't do the wispy thing. the line just stays straight..
@done.6191 Жыл бұрын
Same here. Somewhat this seems to be scale dependent; I was working on a large scale and the line didn't even snap to the curve. Scaled everything down and it worked better, but my line stays straight (yes, weight is painted, etc).

how do i make the line follow the path?
@poppi33622 жыл бұрын
works in 3.0 but not in eevee for anyone not understanding: This is basically like drawing electricity frame by frame, then taking a plane and tracing every frame of the drawings and then using a particle system to distribute it automatically.

Sorry for my ignorance. Does anyone know if this effect can be used to track a greenscreen object e.g. a green painted stick (with or without tracking markers) in a composition?

I'm sorry, but it seems i missed the part where you show how it's parented to the curve, to make it move along the curve?

Be sure to snap the streak object to the same position as the curve object and it seems to work

I'm not sure why but it seems after 2.80 the Round Math node has changed to only have one value. And as a result, you can't make this effect work in later versions. However if you download 2.80 and make this whole setup, it can be imported into later versions with the old style round node. Also awesome tutorial, but for an 11 minute video, it took me 2.5 hours to make XD
@VicenteRaiol2 жыл бұрын
That's probably why I can't make it work. The viewport show's one behavior, but the render just breaks. Do you know if there's a way to fix it without downloading 2.8?
@CubOfJudahsLion3 жыл бұрын
Pretty cool technique. Thanks.

I'm in 2.9, I followed the node setup as I've seen it but my line doesn't have a glowing or gradient effect. It's just a very faded solid line that I get. I think there she be a more step by step approach to this.

can I get the blend file?
@GrahamWiebe3 жыл бұрын
I generally don't give out the blend files for my tutorials. I would recommend giving it a shot and building it from scratch, I always learn a lot from building and running into extra subtlety as I go. It also gives you a nice opportunity to experiment and see what some other ideas do. Feel free to ask any questions or if you get stuck on something

The UVs, particles basically everything is a seperate mesh. I dont understand that part.
@MetrikOner3 жыл бұрын
@@lostcontent6701 After you make your separate meshes and set up your UVs, you then combine the meshes (right click-join in object mode). That way you have 5 separate UVS for one mesh to cycle between.

Hi, I am following along, I've created the plane, shaped it, subdivided it, and now I am trying to create the material you have and I cannot get the black background of my png to disappear. I have my nodes setup just like you have shown but I actually had to adjust my transparent node to black in order to get the thin line to appear the way you show (otherwise it just showed as a white line like my png)(I confirmed and made sure the png I made has a transparent background). Any ideas what I am doing wrong here? Thanks!!
@Rocketcityninja3 жыл бұрын
I was able to figure it out. On the materials tab, under settings I needed to have blend mode set to alpha blend.

"I just go through them one by one, mesh it out" can you explain what this means? What did you do for those 5 frames of Grease Pencil to convert them into meshes? Followup, after this what do I need to do to get them laid out in the UV editor like that? You mention "when you unwrapped the UVs for the frame" you scaled them down to 0 to make them the dot. I'm having trouble seeing anything in the UV editor window at all, do I need to apply transformations or move my 3d cursor or something simple like that perhaps? Anyway, if I don't get a response no worries, appreciate the content regardless, I'll keep trying to get it figured out! Awesome effect
@GrahamWiebe4 жыл бұрын
mesh it out was that I simply model each frame by hand. extruding edges and faces using my drawing as a guide. you need to be in edit mode to unwrap your mesh. you have to select the faces you want to unwrap (in this case, everything... use "a" to select all) then "u" to unwrap. you should then see a uv set in your uv editor, you can select all (a) and scale (s) to zero (0)
