Taylor and his England team always had problems with injured players limiting the team he could play which comprised performances and results, the players he had were not good at tactical adaptability and their play was slow and too often predictable, qualifying for tournaments in these circumstances was unlikely, the team was worse than in 1990✌️❤️🇬🇧

Constant injured players and a team incapable of tactical flexibility and slow off the ball movement and slow passing moves made the England team back then not very good and some players weren’t really good enough for international tournament football ✌️❤️🇬🇧

It tells you so much about our media particuarly at that time they were hounding, harrassing and abusing Graham Taylor. A very good and lovely man, but yet they let monsters like Jimmy Savile roam around freely doing his evil work.

I personally think that looking at the players and their work ethics, it's clear to see that the confidence has vanished from the squad. 2 years ago losing the world cup semi final to Germany in 1990 on penalties is something that they never recovered from. Some key players retired after that tournament and the new players lacked the experience to deal with the pressure of playing for your country.

Hi. Do you remember how long the whole experience was? The website says 2.5 hours but I've seen some others commenting that the via ferrata outside was shorter than advertised, so I was wondering if this was the same.

Unfortunately being a "decent", "good", "nice", "lovely", man doesn't make you a good manager for England. We were awful under Taylor. Carlton Palmer? Do me a favour.

Graham Taylor came across as a top bloke . Didn’t deserve the crap he got from uk media. But let’s be honest , what a load of crap he had to choose from . Deary me , some of those names wouldn’t look out of place at League 1 level . And as for his staff . Mcmenemy ? Really ? And Phil Neal ? Probably was on 100k just to keep saying yeah .. yeah .. yeah . What a depressing era for the national team.

Feel sorry for Taylor I don’t think the injuries helped and key players like Lineker had retired Shearer and Wright was out of form. Gazza was not the same player after that injury in 1991

Since it was a low ebb overall for the Home Nations, I wonder if Andy Roxburgh and Terry Yorath (then-managers of Scotland and Wales respectively) were inclined to have their qualifying campaigns documented? I don't know whether or not the drama can match on par with Taylor's journey.

People talk about about the so called ‘’Golden generation ‘’ and their failure to win anything , take a look at at the stellar names available to Taylor during his time as England manager .What he did with the Italia 90 squad he inherited qualifies him as the worst England coach of all time and the blame lies squarely with the muppets who appointed him….Woefully out of his depth at international level , tactically stuck in the stone age , totally in love with the sound of his own voice and deff the only person on earth that thought Carlton Palmer should play for England …not once , but 18 times ..

You had to really feel for Graham Taylor. A real gentleman hounded by the media on all sides, by the tabloid guttersnipes and the broadsheet pseudo-intelligensia. I had the pleasure to meet him 10 years after this documentary, and he was generous with his time and his football memories.

What happened at 11:30? It seems as if someone is upset with Gascoigne. It seems to m as if Taylor was ahead of his time in certain aspects. The media were responsible for his downfall. You can tell that they looked down on him wanted him to fail so they could have a villain to conjure a narrative for.

They had the team practicing celebrations after a goal, I repeat they actually had the balls to try teach the team how to celebrate scoring goals in training, training! Now I've heard that in boxing a coach would tell his fighter to raise their hands after the fight to show good for the judges but I think footballers know when and how to celebrate scoring a goal, I mean what monumental waste of time. You can see Platt thinking why the fuck are we doing this ridiculous shit, we are not actors if we have something to celebrate I'm sure we will know about it, shouldn't we be practicing penalties or something, Ffs I mean fuck me gently, No wonder we had problems.

The way the game was officiated in Holland always made me wonder whether FIFA had given assurances to the Yanks that English hooligans would not be permitted to enter their country for that World Cup. Koeman's yellow card just defies all rationale.

I am sure there are a lot of Taylor-haters on here, but he was unlucky with injuries, and also had the thickest players ever. They always did what he told them not to do. And to be honest, most of them were not that good. Even if England had qualified by the skin of their teeth, we would have been embarrassed in USA 94.

John Barnes was rubbish for England and i think the fact he was Jamaican not that he was black was the problem, the same as if a player calls himself Scottish but plays for England he would get stick, skin colour had nothing to do with it
