This is my first time hearing about this doll line. Do you or anyone else have an overview about the company and its brand history? I’m guessing this was Canada’s direct response to Pleasant Company/Mattel’s American Girl. As a huge fan of the aforementioned brand, I will say that I never owned any merchandise outside of books and catalogs, but hot take, as much as I always loved the dolls, I find their faces kind of goofy; this Leonie doll has by far a much cuter face mold.

Nice to see you get some items for review, and I like the way you did it. Your previous discussion of Maplelea has definitely raised my interest in the brand (I purchased some items last year), and I think their dolls and clothes look even better in person, so a video like this can help show them off.

I totally agree! I often find products look different online than they do in person so it is always nice to see the real thing in person. Second best is in a video where the person moves it around and shows it at different angles. I'm glad you enjoyed my previous video! ❤

Your new Leonie looked so pretty in the outfits and you really have a knack for doll videography, when she dropped the bucket on the beach that was so cute! I hope yall enjoyed your time together and I really loved the formatting/editing/style of this video really high quality wow.

I genuinely don't know Maplelea molds that well, but I have noticed generational differences can be quiet different so as the years go by the changes have become more noticeable when you compare them. You can tell what generation a Maplelea doll is from by the year and batch number that's on the back of their neck. So it comes down to personal preference which generations you like more. I'm glad you enjoyed the review! ❤

Mia is overrated and Lindsay is underrated. Mia's Meet outfit is very meh. Her skirt and top always come apart in the middle. Her fancy skating outfit is in "hospital green". The rest is ok. Lindsay has an adorable Meet outfit. She doesn't have much else, but as a stand-alone doll she is VERY cute. The rest of the dolls I am more or less in sync with you. Janani was overrated when she came out. The craze has calmed down, whereas Léa is incredibly photogenic.

I grew up reading Anne of Green Gables and watching the original 80s miniseries. Much of my childhood was shaped by the CBC, and I felt that although I lived in Saskatchewan, the CBC was the way I was connected to the rest of the country. With the internet it seems like there are less common, shared, national interests (maybe hockey remains, but I was never into that). So, I am particularly happy that there is a national Canadian doll brand that reflects some of our unique regional cultures.

I think many biy the custom dolls and even worse, those customized by third party. I have seen one or two dolls well done bit so many horrible examples. They are very costly. First they buy the dolls, then they get custmized for a lot of money, and of theu then want to sell the dolls, very few of them are worth anywhere near what the total costs were. JMHO

Love it! Morton should use the picture of her in front of the Anne of Green Gables musical poster in the catalog. Cannot forget the roots. Question from what I can see you got the new window box is the flap magnetized? One of the unboxing mentioned it was but it was a Maplelea & Me also the journal was different dark blue with a magnetic closure. Yours seems to be the same of the ones with the flower closure I don’t know if that I’d just a newer dark blue journal is new of just for Maplelea & Me.

Great video and topic! Lots of great points ans bravo for saying so. You are NOT alone! I think the world has changed too, fomo gets the best of everyone sometimes. I also live outside the U.s. and while I wouldn't say I get 'jealous' I do get sad that there are not as many social opportunities where I live to meet other like minded people. I don't have access to the a.g stores and would love to. But I think as I've gotten older I've come to realise that it's all about loving what we DO have and using social media for inspiration to do our own thing. I give my dolls first and middle names that look like they "suit them" for the most part, but I also pull from celebs or artists I like, like "Rina" for Rina Sawayama, "Phoebe" for Phoebe Bridgers, "Britney" for Britney Spears, and "Arantxa" for Arantxa Castilla La Mancha. In my mind, the dolls aren't supposed to be those people, but they're namesakes, basically. 😊

The Nutcracker Ballet is a ballet adaptation of ETA Hoffman's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. It absolutely counts as a book. X'''D Granted, the name of the girl varies a little. In most book adaptations, she's Marie, and in the ballet, she's Clara, but there are some book versions that call her Clara, so really you can get away with anything. I'm more a writer and a doll customizer than I am an AG collector. I have one Truly Me doll from when I was a kid, and her name is Katie. She's meant to look like me, and I'm Kat, so she got a nickname I don't use but could go with my name. But she's, so far, the only doll I have like this. When I'm making customs or naming characters in my works, I like to go for names that have sounds and meanings that suit the character. One of my favorite dolls is named Belladonna Nightshade. She's a tricky little fairy that cons people out of their Halloween candy. The name Belladonna means beautiful lady, but it's also a deadly plant that can really hurt you, so it suits her really well. Auran Dulce, one of my main characters for a story I'm writing, his name is fun. I had misremembered the name of Sir Aaron from Lucario and the Mystery of Mew as Auran, and I wanted a very knightly and gentlemanly character when I was building him. Auran also sounds like aurora, which fits with his motif of the aurora borealis and winter. Dulce, his last name, is the Spanish word for sweets, and he is in fact very sweet. Henry Stein, one of my favorite characters in a videogame, has a last name that means stone, or rock, and this is very interesting when you look at his backstory, where he's the rock for the central antagonist of that series. Name meanings are one of my favorite ways to go about naming a character, as it can give your reader insight into what you're planning, but it can also be good for foreshadowing a twist. That said, some of my names are nonsensical. Dydem and Jumbalah are two characters that had their names come from mashing sounds together. Dydem in particular is funny because I was trying to google something, and the computer lagged so much that I was left with these letters that formed it together. It was so freaky, but it works great for a merchild with the power of nightmares. Loraine, one of my other central protagonists, her name is because I like the sound of it, not because of its meaning. Auran's middle name is Delacey, because I like Thomas O'Malley's song from the Aristocats. Go ahead and sound things out, see how you like different sounds, maybe something will fit.

Mother of an 80s 90s kid girl. The first dolI bought her was Kirsten. She didn’t even know I’d bought it. I responded to the little tiny 2 x 3 ad that was in the back of either Martha Stewart or Better Homes & Gardens about a better way for play for children who were seven years old or older. That was the original way it was presented, and when they talked about the accessories and things that you could add, it was always based on someone being at least seven years old, the stories the books were really important if we were gonna get a new outfit or piece that was part of the collection we read the story that went with it and then bought the piece. And 1989 $75 for a doll was pretty nutty. But we lived in a very wealthy community. My daughter getting the doll sent off a chain reaction in her playgroup. Where it almost became a competitive sport to see who would get what the first. Birthday parties girls asked for outfits or accessories. Dolls became the item for birthday gifts or the bed or the trunk. And this time it was Kirsten, Molly, and Samantha. Maybe felicity I am not sure I mean we had them all they came in Christmas. They came for birthdays. They came when we had to have some major surgery, but they were treated properly put away properly. I didn’t find the same problems that we did with the Barbies, that littered the playroom and during the years of ages 3 to 5. This word these were special dolls and they need to be treated in a special way and when the girl like me or whatever when you could make the doll look like yourself we had those And girls of other ethnicities. And they were well taken care of and when the time with them was over, they were properly packed and put away for the future. The only time that I almost had a heart attack was the first time I saw Kirsten without her braids, I said I thought we talked about that. Well, seven-year-old is a seven-year-old but I can only think of that as being the very worst thing that ever happened my granddaughters are certainly at this age where they are ready to have these dolls they have a few of my daughters. She was very picky about what she put out to be played with and for Christmas summer is going to one of them and the ballerina doll with the purple is going to the other one. I already know that they’re getting Elsa and Anna I am not in favor of that. They’re too expensive and quite frankly I don’t think they should be played with, but that’s just my opinion. I’d like to think that that is the collection that American girl/Mattel puts out for their adult collectors. They will never be as nice or as well-made as the ones that we had in the beginning, but that’s everything today after all Mattel is a public-held company and it has to answer stockholders. They want their stock to increase. They want their dividends and like most things in life today stockholders are the ones that pull the strings show. The age group is chipping away. This is a doll that I would give as I am doing to a five-year-old Mattel 11:54 is moving towards a younger audience. That’s life that’s what comes with today’s day and age. I just hope that they remember that there are parents who started those years back with the original dolls and they keep a collectors line available for those of us who wish to add to them, but they are simply that a collect line not that’s why there’s a play line and there’s a collector line. Mattel has to serve two masters the young kids who are going to keep the company going and their parents who pick up the tab and have an interest in adding higher level, higher quality dolls for their own collections..

A friend introduced me to the Maplelea company through their outfits. I love the creativity, the diverse colors, the quality with attention to details which is something bigger companies have started to discard as they turned their aim to "production and fast cash". I bought several outfits since then, thrilled by what Maplelea has to offer; though I don't own a Maplelea at the moment. My American Girl dolls (which makes the most of my doll collection) and "I'm a Girly doll" are the ones wearing these outfits. I love all my dolls and find them gorgeous, so I guess we are all first attracted to what we are exposed the most. This being said, at 1st I was not too sure if I'd like to add a Maplelea doll to my collection. Being used to the AG eyes, that was the feature that made me hesitate to get a Maplelea doll. But as I looked at the catalog and website for my next outfits/accessories order; I kept seeing the dolls as well. I also got exposed to pics taken by people and I got very attached to Briane and Saila. I can relate to Briane a lot and I'm really considering having her as her personality, what she does and love remind me of myself. Just wish she had light golden brown hair 😉 In the Maplelea & Me line, I really like: 68, 51, 47, 46, 43, 41. I don't really have space for more dolls but I will have to work out something as I don't think I'll be able to resist much longer 😄 Now, my dilemma will be to choose between Briane or a Maplelea & Me. I'm gonna wait to see the upcoming Maplelea & Me that will be available in November.

I search for names I like: baby names, characters from favorite books, shows, movies…and keep a master list. Then, when I get a new TM I just say each name as I look at the doll and find the one that suits her. Then repeat for a middle name. But sometimes they just come to me. I’ve named three TMs I don’t even have yet without even trying (and none of those 3 names were on my list). I also jot down names while watching all my dolls videos. Everyone on AGKZbin is so creative. I love it! Great video! PS. I’m seriously considering buying a Maplelea doll. I’m not into the classic mold (yet!). What doll, that isn’t a classic mold, would you recommend for a newbie? It just seems like a nice company that truly cares about quality. I’m planning to get a doll and a few outfits. Thanks. I always recommend Saila for beginner Maplelea collectors because she is VERY popular and they just got a restock in so I'd get one before they go out of stock again! But you reminded me how I have been naming my pets, since the Twilight movie came out I started the theme of naming them the character's names from the movie. I have: Jasper, Leah and Bella lol. When I was a kid every doll I got my hands on was instantly & effortlessly issued a name. As an adult I have so unnecessarily struggled to name some of my truly me girlies. Whenever I see an article on baby names, I'm taking screenshots. I think the problem is I like too many names. I asked my son what I should name my #60 when he was like 4 yrs old, & he said Mustache! 😅 He's 12 now & still insists that is her name, he's never forgotten it.
