Love them both ! See if STC Optics makes a grip from the Zf. They make a very cool one for Nikon Z 6 & 7 - The reason it is so much heavier is bc it's all metal housing. The X-T5 is mostly plastic housing.

I don’t own either camera, but I’m leaning towards the ZF because of its low-light performance and color rendition. When I look at the images it produces, I’m drawn to the deep blacks and rich shadows. However, the size of the camera makes me think twice. By the way, I really enjoyed your presentation. It felt raw and authentic, and even though it took 30 minutes, I didn’t mind at all because of how well you explained everything. My suggestion would be to increase the volume a bit for better clarity. Also, I’d love to see some comparison images or footage of you using the camera outdoors. Lastly, I’m curious to know-do you think the lack of custom user settings on the ZF is a deal-breaker for you? Cheers!

Excellent video. Line you, I’m an enthusiast and take photos of mostly landscapes, street, and my kids. I moved away from Canon this year and took the leap into Nikon with a Zf. What brought me over were these photos I took from study abroad 15 years ago. I bought a Nikon DSLR for that trip only and I can never stop going back and looking at them compared to my later Canon photos. The colors and dynamic range were insanely gorgeous, even out of a cheap kit lens. So I took a leap on a Zf and I love and hate it for all the same reasons you stated. My biggest frustration is the lenses. I want the compact lenses with manual aperture. Something that feels solid. The 40 is a great lens but it feels like garbage. I have the SE version, and while the retro look is slightly better, it is so cheap feeling. I think I’m going to buy a Fuji XT5 and just keep them both for different things. More serious things like formal family photos, landscapes, and sports, go with the Nikon. If I’m just walking around with the family or doing some light street photography, go with the Fuji.

This is my single biggest gripe with the Zf. The lenses that ‘match’ it are not awesome. I love the Z 40 f2.. but let’s be honest.. under f4 .. the clouds are parting if I get a sharp/wet eyeball. It’s like that lens doesn’t wake up until about 3.2. When I compare shots of my family from the Zf/40 with shots from the A7Cii/40.. it isn’t close.. AT ALL.. But.. but.. in your case.. the Zf with a Z 35 or 50 can be perfect for family as it does have amazing colors and the Z S lenses are very good.

As someone who's been on the fuji train for a few years now, I'm always looking at other systems. For me it's finding the right rangefinder style body. Originally went with the xt30ii which gave me the dials I like, because the xe4 went to minimal. It's either upgrading to the xpro3 (or xpro4 if that comes out in a reasonable time) or I switch over to sony because the a7cii makes a lot of sense, especially with chasing a toddler around.

I used to watch and read the comment sections of arrogant Nikon and Canon users staunchly stating that they would never ever in a million years buy a Sony, because its an electronics company, they'd rather wait until Canon or Nikon made mirrorless cameras because SURELY they'll MAKE A FAR BETTER CAMERA THAN SONY! I'm still waiting to see if Canon and Nikon have caught up, and they haven't. The big reviewers channels claim they're all even-Steven's, but the independent guys are saying Sony is still the king of mirrorless. Canon and Nikon aren't what they're cracked up to be and neither is Fuji. Fuji is actually really bad. For about a decade Canon and Nikon users were mocking sensor stabilization technology and claiming that optical image stabilization was better, yet Canon barely put OIS in less than half its lenses and Nikon was like 10-15% of lenses having OIS. For about a decade Canon and Nikon users were mocking mirrorless as rubbish, and that if mirrorless does surpass DSLR they might consider it, but only if their Canon or Nikon brand made it because it was bound to be so much better than Sony. Their brand ambassadors and sponsored photographers were saying for ages that mirrorless is s*** and no good, now look how they've seen the so-called light. Canon and Nikon users and their sponsored photographers are anti-technology and anti-innovation. Both brands barely ever innovate and expect all their technological advancements to come out of feedback from their sponsored photographers - which is the photographer welfare program that gives them free gear in exchange for free advertising on their youtube channel and blog. Just watch this space, the new Canon R5ii and R1 had design parameters from their sponsored photographer feedback as this: "Just make it a bit better than the Sony Equivalent". The R5ii and R1 has been this hotly anticipated pair of cameras that are so underwhelming, that Sony can probably better them with firmware updates. There's no innovation in a Canon camera except "Make it a bit better than a Sony, and I'll buy it over a Sony". All you have to do is "just make it a bit a better than Sony, or even if its not, the reviewers will just play along like it is". Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is the parent company of Nikon and Fujifilm, so Fujifilm will never have full frame, and Nikon copied the Fuji retro camera into full frame. Exact same design ethos from the Nikon sponsored photographers: "Just make it a bit better than a Sony and we'll buy it". Not much innovation from Nikon, as it just follows the market trend to mirrorless. The only innovation they had was to remove the shutter from some cameras because they could, but maybe they shouldn't - is it an innovation to remove a thing? I heard of one interesting auto focus thing Nikons can do, but ............. Everyone is more blown away by what the Sony's can do. You go with the industry innovator like Sony and Pentax and others. Its remarkable what Pentax IBIS can do with tracking stars in astro-photography and other features of pixel shift that actually works in camera.

After 3 weeks and over 200 photos, I had to returned the Zf. Two reasons only: ergonomics felt horrible after hours even with a simple 50mm f/1.8 S and I was noticing weird horrible color noise in low light situations. Never I had the issue with my previously owned Z6ii. Since I am not a professional photographer and started to hate walking around with large lenses, I decided to sell all of my full frame gear and switch to APSC. @@WidePhotographs Very valid points. Any lens bigger than the little 40 exacerbates the bad ergonomics. I love the ‘idea’ of the Zf but the Z 40 isn’t as good as the Sony 40 and AF isn’t as good as A7Cii. The Zf is also harder to just grab and point as the A7Cii or the X100V… and my boys like it the least ‘in their face’. The A7Cii is about the same size with 40 but lighter and so easy to hold one-handed with its grip. I can’t keep all 3.. and even though the Zf smokes the X100V in so many areas like AF, dynamic range, etc.. I think the Zf is the one I have to let go. I’ll add.. every time I review my images from Zf/40 and A7Cii/40 it’s not close.. and I ask myself why I’m not just using A7Cii all the time. Zf is an amazing camera. Its uniqueness is both a positive and a negative. For others.. yes.. I’ve tried the grips on the Zf. It’s not just the lack of grip but the weight. It’s a beefy dude.

I should also add that perfect focus on a ‘wet eyeball’ is not the only standard for a great photo. I have shots of my kids that are not quite in focus but the image overcomes bad focus.. My advice is to skip the X100VI for now.. you will pay too much and/or wait. Regarding the A7Cii, it will be great for travel/street but so is the X100V. With some good technique.. distance/zone focusing.. the Fuji is great for the street. What you would get out of the A7Cii would be more size.. harder to fit in a coat pocket.. but faster focusing for moving people and more detail in buildings/landscapes.
