Really enjoyed this review. We have just got a vintage S700 after a B544. Like Matt and Cath we are looking to do longer runs away until I retire and then go all out for bigger journeys. We are so impressed with the S class and plenty of room for booze 😅😅😅

Hi. I also have a 1992 Merc Hymer s700. I’m having the engine overhauled at the moment. Looking for a Vacuum switch. Do you know anywhere we can get merc parts for these engines? I’m also looking for a radiator cowling, but the vacuum switch is priority

Very useful video

It's interesting just how quickly it resolves that sound. I don't know if it lasts after you bring back the regular diesel though. I did do a purge and was over at my bench when suddenly I noticed a distinct change in the sound of the engine. Like magic it suddenly sounded much quieter just like this video shows. But that made me think it's just how the engine runs on diesel purge. It's hard for me to tell now whether the engine still sounds better or if it was only temporary. That being said, it does pull black stuff out of the injection system, so it must be doing something good.

8:00 I'd recommend reclining the seat backs to avoid the drop down bed rather than as was demonstrated here, the seats get squashed over time if you're not careful. Great video.

I love living so close to it.

Hi Jon, thanks for the video. I’ve been watching several similar videos and luckily came across yours. My om602 turbo in my ‘93 w124 sounds EXACTLY like your motor so I’m hopeful a can or two of purge will give me the same results as you got. I’ll add another note when I do it this weekend.

What a great layout. Great visibility and spaciousness when sitting in the lounge from front and side windows, without being cramped and squeezed as in recent layouts. We just change things for change and not making them better… Enjoy your great van!
